Key Responsibilities

Follow all PPG procedures and policies. Assure that the product manufactured is of the highest quality. Actively reduce rework and scrap while increasing first pass yield. Use and interpret tools and engineering drawings, blueprints, sketches, production parts, verbal and/or written instructions to accomplish assignment. Use all types of power and non-power equipment, both hand held and floor mounted to accomplish work assignments or operations. Must strive to maintain efficient team dynamics, and productively and positively work within a diverse team environment. Express and discuss job/task related concerns in a productive, professional manner. Meet daily production efficiency and ensure schedules are met utilizing TAKT time; make every effort to prevent rework or scrap; perform cleaning and housekeeping duties as required. Understand inventory accuracy and how it impacts operations. Basic use of QAD labor system is a plus.

Experience and Education

  • Inspect parts for defects before and after coating application.

  • Rework (Strip and recoat of glass, acrylic, or polycarbonate substrates). This includes the use of solvents and acids.

  • Respirator use.

  • Secret level clearance (If required).

  • Trouble shooting/Problem solving/SPC.

  • Process variability (Ability to recognize run-to-run process variability and adjust parameters to resolve issues and maintain processes to meet specifications).

  • High school diploma or GED required.

  • Comply with all quality policies, specifications, regulations and instructions.

  • Work with engineers as needed to support tool or process development.

  • Cleanroom Protocol.

  • Laser Machine operation.

  • Chamber Operation (All programs and setups, Loading/ unloading, cleaning of substrates, operating vacuum pumps, heaters, robotics, power supplies).

  • Maintenance/TPM of vacuum chambers and any associated equipment.

  • Target changes (including target depth measurements, and Gauss level measurements).

  • Measurement tools (including, but not limited to depth gage).

  • HMM-chemical inventory system (Data entry/Logging).

  • Understanding of basic Vacuum theory and applications.

Success Factors/Functional Competencies:

Must be able to read, write, and communicate in English. Ability to effectively communicate with employees at all levels, read and interpret work instructions on work orders and documented procedures. Participate in rotating responsibilities to maintain accuracy on floor stock inventory (Kanban) that includes components, raw materials, and chemicals used for all assemblies. Able to understand customer specifications and requirements, and provide full support to achieve department Key Process Indicator targets and goals. Ability to lift/push/pull up to 50 lbs., work with some solvents and chemicals, and wear all required PPE necessary to complete work tasks. Must follow all EH&S rules and regulations at all times. Good record keeping skills are necessary. Computer experience required. Must be able to work overtime as necessary, per business needs. Must be able to work 1st shift and/or be reassigned shift if it is dictated by business needs, and any additional duties required by leadership.

VIEW JOBS 12/1/2018 12:00:00 AM 2019-03-01T00:00 Responsibilities * Clean, prep, and apply metallic coatings to various substrates. * Conduct preventative maintenance and TPM on chambers. * Actively work to troubleshoot and resolve any metallic coating production issues. * Strip metallic coatings from substrate as part of the rework process. Functional and Technical Skills Chamber operation consists of cleaning of substrate to be metalized, loading substrate into vacuum chambers, and operating vacuum pumps, computers, robots, heaters, and deposition power supplies. Technician will be responsible for some preventive maintenance of the chamber and equipment. Must be able to inspect the substrate for defects before and after the metal application. Must be able to use basic hand and power tools, lift up to 25 LBS unassisted. Technician will also be responsible for stripping metalized coating using chemicals that includes acid. Must use a computer to record coating process parameters. Must be able to work with organic coatings and solvents. Must be willing to learn relationship between the film resistance and heating pattern of electrically heated parts and adjust the coating process parameters (power density, gas flow ratios, sputter deposition pressure) to meet required specifications. Chamber technicians must have strong problem solving and analytical skills. Technicians must acquire the ability to recognize run to run variability and be able to maintain/adjust the coating parameters to keep the processes at the required specifications. Must be able to work with engineering and R&T personnel to develop processes as needed. Will become involved in performing daily TPM on their chamber. Must use SPC techniques to track several key process variables to ensure the process is within the defined control limits. Requires: Willingness to learn basic vacuum film deposition techniques and the operation of the chambers. Must be able to wear a respirator and other PPE. Good record keeping skills are necessary. Must be available for overtime when scheduled. Ability to read, write, and follow instructions in English is required. Experience using Microsoft Excel is desired because the applicant should be able to create/maintain spreadsheets for recordkeeping purposes.
