Purpose

LaForce is looking for a Metal Fabricator to be responsible for set-up and operation of band saw, grinder, drill press, jigsaw, and welder in the fabrication process of hollow metal frames and frame components.

Major Responsibilities

  • Set-up and operation of welding equipment

  • Interpret pertinent information from shop orders, shop drawings and frame templates

  • Safe operation of fork lift trucks for movement of materials

  • Maintain accurate paper work and record keeping

  • Assist in other operations as needed

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED), and one to three months of related experience and/or training.

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

Physical Demands

  • The employee is required to frequently use hands to lift up to 69# Floor to 60", carry up to 69#, and push/pull up to 100# force.

  • The employee is required to occasionally sit, climb or balance (in and out of fork lift), talk or hear, grip up to 75# Force and climb/balance or step up 19"

The Sheetmetal Shop provides a full range of Sheetmetal products and services for a wide range of facility requirements. The type of work includes; routine and emergency maintenance, preventive maintenance, renovation, major repair, and minor construction. The Sheetmetal Shop is also the initial responder to roofing issues. The position is responsible for managing the delivery, communication, and cost of work. The incumbent is responsible for short and long term scheduling and resourcing. Experience assigning and reviewing the work of Sheet Metal workers and apprentices as a lead worker or supervisor preferred. Additional Information: * Experience supervising trade or similar teams. * Experience scheduling and assigning a large volume of work to multiple team members. * Knowledge of Human Resources processes including; hiring, discipline, counseling, performance management, conflict resolution, etc. * Knowledge of the tools, equipment, materials, methods, practices, and procedures of the Sheet Metal trade. * Knowledge of roofs and roofing systems. * Proficiency in reading construction drawings and specifications. * Ability to do construction scheduling & estimating. * Knowledge of various building codes. * In depth understanding of the facility maintenance process. * Ability to develop solutions to field issues. * Knowledge of multiple construction trades. * Experience developing and implementing Process Improvements. * Proficiency in a wide range of software programs and databases. * Knowledge of construction scheduling and estimating software. * Must be skilled in written and oral communication. * Ability to exercise a strong sense of priority and time management to effectively track the progress of multiple projects to ensure timely completion. * Ability to maintain a professional and service oriented relationship with customers and coworkers.
