About the Role:
Directs the activities of the Metal Fabrication Department to ensure to safe and timely production of quality parts. Must work closely with other shifts, department supervisors and the 2nd shift Plant Manager.
Your Responsibilities in this Role:
Resolves difficult equipment or tooling problems effecting quality and production by working with Maintenance and the Tool Room to assure that all department machines are kept in working order while operating at peak performance.
Maintains a clean and safe work environment for all employees. Is responsible for housekeeping within the entire department, by keeping all machines and work areas as clean as possible.
Maintains the organization of all tools, equipment, inventory and supplies into the proper cabinets, carts & racking with assistance of a computerized locating system.
Assists in maintaining the organization of all dies. Up to and including all necessary ancillary supply items required to properly, and safely, complete the set up.
Assists in maintaining all material storage areas, including oils and metals.
Trains or facilitates training of production workers in the Metal Fabrication Department. Works with all employees to achieve, or surpass, set production rate efficiencies on all jobs.
Routinely monitors in-process productivity throughout the shift to help insure that production efficiencies are being met. And if not, work to make the necessary adjustments to achieve them.
Communicates all production issues to the department manager and 1st shift supervisor via email of phone calls to alert them of issues. Also to 1st shift set-up team as needed.
Resolves conflicts between employees and carries out disciplinary action as the situation calls for.
Works cooperatively and collaboratively with all Metal Fab Supervisor on other shift to ensure effective department communication, to ensure that department goals are met, and to ensure hand off from shift to shift is smooth and efficient.
Works cooperatively and collaboratively with all other department Managers and Supervisors to ensure that all Nordic Ware objectives are most timely, appropriately and cost-effectively being met.
Works with the department manager and Human Resources on employee relation issues.
Maintains involvement in ordering temporary workers as needed for staffing requirements and production schedule.
Monitors and assists employees with equipment, materials, and supplies necessary to meet production requirements. Participates in various departmental and company meetings, training programs, directed activities, and special projects.
Informs and monitors all employees concerning company safety rules and regulations and insures that all employees comply 100%.
Works with the company Nurse, Safety & Environmental Affairs Manager to eliminate causes of job-related injury in the Metal Fabrication Department.
Monitors in-process production to assure that quality standards are met.
Works with Maintenance and Tool Room Departments in resolving difficult equipment or tooling problems effecting quality and production.
Works cooperatively with the QA Department on any quality issues.
Coordinates the efforts of the Metal Fabrication Department to assure that department production standards are me
Investigates and expedites the handling of any problems pertaining to first shift Metal Fabrication through continues communication the supervisor and manager.
Assists in scheduling parts through the department.
Other duties as assigned by the department Manager.
What We Seek in You:
High School diploma or equivalent.
Must be familiar with production quality standards and basic maintenance of all presses and spinners.
Good written and verbal communication skills.
Must have supervisory experience.
Good organization skills a must.
A willingness to work overtime as needed.
