Responsibilities and Qualifications

Overview:

The Clinician reviews applicable candidates for clinical appropriateness and coordinates placement within the telemedicine program. The clinician operates in accordance with all applicable Federal, State, and Mercy rules, regulations, policies and procedures, and performs all duties assigned by the Director, in the ambulatory program, concerning patients and their care. These duties differ according to the assigned areas and range from education to care coordination.

Responsibilities:


Utilize the Mercy Nursing conceptual Framework and nursing process to provide patient care.Maintains professional accountability for provision of patient care for the assigned patients.Maintains patient rights and confidentiality of patient information.Coordinates the patient care in conjunction with Mercy virtual care team and other care providers.Communicates all care plans with patient and family.Performs duties and responsibilities in a manner consistent with Mercy mission, vision and Mercy Service Standards. All clinical duties performed are within the RN scope of practice.

Participates in the Quality Assurance Program of Mercy Virtual. Participates in the Share governance team.Compiles data of various sources for selection of proper candidates and critical appropriation of these candidates to specified teams within the tele-medicine program.Reviews patient charts for efficacy and placement within tele-medicine.Utilize various platforms of communication to all parties including the patient, family, provider, and team.Identifies clinical workflows specific to patient enrollment and consistently working to improve or update them.Triage patients based on priority and patient need with Mercy virtual software.Performs other duties within credentialed privileges as required by the Medical Director of the Ambulatory telemedicine program, Mercy Virtual.All clinical duties performed will be within the nurses scope of practice. Directs/Participates in the Quality Assurance Program within Mercy Virtual and the health care system.

Qualifications:

Education & Experience:

Education: Graduation from registered nursing program and Bachelor's in nursing.

Experience: Minimum of 5 years diversified direct clinical experience in nursing required. Previous telemedicine, Internal medicine, Primary care medicine or a Critical Care experience ideal.

License:

Must have a Missouri License or eligible for Missouri License and eligible for other state licensure.

At least (1) professional recommendations (attesting to previous experience, clinical competence, and moral character.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

Work requires analytical skills and knowledge of complex medical patients, anatomy, EKG reading (etc.). Fundamental knowledge of chronic medical illnesses including but not limited to: heart failure, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, diabetes mellitus, etc.Ability to envisage patient current status by review of the patient's EMR only.Must possess excellent communication skills with patient, family, provider, and inter-department personnel by oral and written forms.Must possess interpersonal skills to interact effectively with coworkers and other Medical staff in a virtual care setting.Broad-based knowledge and clinical expertise in assessing, analyzing, evaluating, and intervening in patient care. Ability to work in stressful environment, ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks, function within an ever changing environment, coordinate services for multiple patients with a variety of ages and diagnoses.Be a team leader and direct the health care needed to meet the patient needs.Must possess the ability to concentrate for long periods of time, work well under stress and be able to think and react quickly in emergencies.
