Job Description:

The Merchandising Space Planner will oversee overseeing all retail space planograms, floor layouts and will work with the Category Management, Retail Space, and Business Partner's teams to accomplish planogram creation, updates and maintenance. The right candidate will be able to leverage all available data sources to make the recommendations that will improve the performance of retail space in our locations.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Support the Category Management and Retail Space department in executing Merchandise Planning functions to produce Best in Class planograms for retail locations

  • Develop and analyze merchandise assortments that deliver overall category growth through a combination of internal merchandising tools coupled with specified guidelines and data

  • Analyze retail and market level data to develop planogram schematics utilizing Symphony Cloud Space Planning software platform

  • Create relevant product assortments and optimal space planning that drive sales across the business

  • Assist with administrative responsibilities prior to retail project sets such as data cleansing, planogram management, planogram retrieval, reviewing retail and category management guidelines, etc.

  • Understanding and utilization of data integrity tools to ensure correct data inputs and outputs in projects, and planograms

  • Effectively communicate and coordinate with vendor partner resources and space management teams to ensure accurate and timely completion of deadlines.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field or equivalent work experience

  • Experience with Symphony Cloud, JDA or similar Space Planning Software a must

  • Proficient in MS Office

  • Capable of making public presentations

  • Self-motivated and able to function well in an ambiguous environment where functional direction at time may be undetermined

BorrowLenses is the Shutterfly brand where professional photographers and videographers come to rent premium gear online. This role will oversee merchandise buying and demand planning for our product lines, including forecasting demand and planning optimal inventory levels, managing and executing the purchasing workflow, and aiding in implementing of our pricing strategy. You will identify retail trends and synthesize information from multiple touch points, including internal and external expertise and data sources, manage financial plans and budgets, and support business strategy related to inventory planning. You will own the planning related activities such as monitoring forecasts, modeling purchasing requirements, and maintaining related supply plans. You will also own the purchasing process workflow. The successful candidate will be comfortable with modeling and basic data mining techniques, and working efficiently with large data sets. You have technical skills, project management skills and the ability to multi-task and thrive in a fast-paced environment. You are creative in your analytical approach. You attack complex business questions with curiosity, diving deep to find root cause and developing hypotheses to improve performance. You can effectively communicate insights and results across the organization, at all levels. Responsibilities include: * Responsible for the full buying life cycle, including negotiating the best pricing, and purchasing all equipment from generating requisitions through to acquiring and ingesting inventory * Forecast demand for existing and new products, and recommend optimal inventory levels * Closely monitor and research sales and data trends on both the primary and secondary markets. * Manage cross-functional teams and internal subject matter experts on the day-to-day execution of purchasing, pricing and inventory planning. * Lead vendor negotiations, inventory analysis, payback analysis, data reporting, analysis, and reconciliation of discrepancies * Support the development and implementation of pricing systems, processes, and guidelines to ensure the business achieves its price realization and sales goals, including continually monitoring prices, and identifying opportunities to improve unit economics. * Own the maintenance of ongoing metrics, reports, analyses, dashboards, etc. to support demand planning * Leverage analytics ability to understand business drivers, goals and actionable outcomes Requirements: * Bachelors degree with 3-5 years' experience in merchandise planning or buying, or a related field * Strong analytical skills and ability to clearly communicate analysis to a broad audience * Strong cross-functional collaboration required, excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to interpret and summarize data to aid management in achieving strategic and operational goals * Excellent organizational skills, time management, and highly detail oriented with the ability to juggle multiple priorities or deadlines * Strong Excel skills, and good SQL skills, are required * Experience with product forecasting, statistical modeling and/or strategic planning a plus * Experience with or interest in photography or videography is always a plus! * Working at Shutterfly* Our employees at Shutterfly are passionate and possess the deeply held belief that a team working for a cause will reach and benefit millions of people.
