Overview
The Merchandise Planning Analyst works effectively with merchandising leadership to support key planning, forecasting, and reporting processes. This position also analyzes the P&L to identify opportunities/risks while driving results for the Merchandising department. The Merchandise Planning Analyst will utilize their accounting and financial background to provide financial advice and work cross-functionally with their business partners to enhance operational and financial performance.

Essential Functions
Planning and Budgeting
Forecasting
Analysis
Provides analysis and recommendations to help merchants achieve department revenue and profit goals
Regular reviews of pricing, promotion, and assortment to help support decision making
Pre-post analysis of merchandising tests
Reporting
Prepare weekly and monthly presentations for Merchandising leadership
Weekly promotional effectiveness reporting and Ad planning
Reporting on key business metrics, including department/category performance analysis
Partner with the business to understand variances to forecast/budget and understand and relay ongoing implications
Other
Serves as project lead for ad hoc projects by managing objectives, deliverables, and key milestones with minimal supervision
Supports manager in the coaching & development of junior team members

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Physical Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Economics, Statistics, or a related field is required.
Minimum 2 years' experience in financial analysis required
Retail or Grocery industry experience preferred
Experience with budgeting, planning, modeling, and forecasting systems
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
Proficient in Blue Yonder ESP
Proficient in Power BI
Strong verbal and written communication skills, analytical and decision-making skills, and ability to work on cross-functional teams
