Reporting to the GMM-VP of Merchandising or the Director of Merchandising Business Development, the Merchandising Business Development Sr. Manager will be responsible for leveraging market research, consumer insights, and analytics to identify new business adjacencies, white space opportunities and accelerate product discovery that will deliver the category strategies.

Day in the Life
Develops business strategy ideas from the synthesis of consumer insights, customer analytics, business insights, lifestyle trends, industry insights and multi-platform buying. reports
Consumes and collects customer data, market insights & research, trend reporting, and social media to identify white spaces and new business adjacencies in alignment with the category strategy.
Coordinates and executes new and innovative product discovery methods (i.e. The Big Find, collaborations, concepts, new business development efforts)
Accelerate product discovery by developing a brand outreach approach and materials that will deliver results. Work with Consumer Insights, Platform/Customer/Marketing Analytics Partners.
Identifies new product opportunities by cultivating industry outreach networks.
Attends trade shows, consumes social media, and leverages market research to identify new brand opportunities
Works with external touchpoints and works cross-functionally internally
Partners with Consumer Insights and Analytics for data requests to help identify and support decisions on category whitespaces
Scopes opportunities in partnership with Multi-Platform Buying, DDGS and Product Development Teams.
Develops brand briefs, credential presentations, and pitch materials. Owns pitch through partner alignment and launch confirmation.
Executes outreach approach defined by the GMM-VP or Director of Merchandising Business Development.
Maintains discovery reporting, brand trackers, and cross-functional reporting tools
Category Strategy Development:
Partner with the GMM-VP of Merchandising or the Director of Business Development to execute the category long range strategy that will deliver the category's financial plans
Coordinate multi-platform strategies that will deliver sales, productivity, adjusted gross margin plans.
Seek and analyze data from a variety of sources such as consumer insights, customer analytics, lifestyle trends, industry insights and Multi-Platform Buying Teams to inform category trends and opportunities.
Coordinate information from insights and analytics from internal and external sources to identify white space, emerging brands and products, new business adjacencies and innovative opportunities.
Assist with product discovery and innovation efforts to deliver new brands and products.
Customer centric approach to grow the new and reactive customer count.
Executing Results---Business Development and Product Discovery:
Develops brand briefs, credentials presentations, pitch presentations
Develops vendor/brand outreach approach.
Coordinate efforts for new and innovative product discovery platforms such as the Big Find, new and unique partnerships and collaborations.
Attend trade shows, industry conferences, competitive shopping, consume social media and trade publications to discover emerging businesses, new brands and products.
Work with cross functional partners to execute business development and product discovery opportunities based on customer and market data and industry trends
Prepares information for Health of the Business tools such as brand tracker, merchandising tenants, product lifecycle that will deliver the product discovery scorecard goals.
Establishes best practice tools and processes to support Merchandising Business Development in partnership with other category Merch Business Development teams
Consolidate information for merchandising business development functions to deliver leader summaries.
Engage in strong internal and external networks to inform new ideas.

Bachelor's Degree or equivalent business experience.
Minimum of six years' experience in a Retail Buying environment or equivalent position. Prior experience managing/leading others preferred.
