Summary/Objective

The MEP Equipment Procurement Manager at Evans General Contractors, LLC plays a key strategic role, overseeing and managing mission-critical sourcing and purchasing, a market where procurement is pivotal in making-or-breaking overall project success. Tasked with procuring and managing equipment for our customers, the manager focuses on delivering mechanical and electrical gear that meets client needs, adheres to project schedule, and is within project budget. With a primary focus on the mission-critical market, the manager actively engages in relationship-building, fostering effective connections with team members, external customers, clients, suppliers, and subcontractors. Through strategic leadership, this professional contributes significantly to the company's success by upholding a commitment to excellence in project delivery and client satisfaction.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement procurement strategies to ensure timely delivery of equipment in a competitive mission-critical market.

  • Generate and conduct RFPs involving a large supply base for a variety of mechanical, electrical, or other types of equipment.

  • Thoroughly analyze mission-critical MEP specifications and drawings to accurately understand project needs and overall basis of design.

  • Develop specialized purchasing tools and scope-related contracting documents for the direct procurement of mission-critical equipment.

  • Collaborate with the Project Team to expertly develop the construction schedule, to communicate critical path procurement timelines, and to turnover ownership of equipment order management.

  • Cultivate and sustain robust relationships with key suppliers, leveraging strategic partnerships to drive project success.

  • Monitor supplier performance and address any issues that arise. Implement and manage KPIs and vendor scorecards.

  • Demonstrate proficiency in purchase order and master agreement negotiation with both clients and suppliers. Subsequently, prepare and execute purchase orders after award.

  • Exhibit strong problem-solving skills, applying analytical thinking to overcome challenges and ensure project success.

  • Demonstrate knowledge of pricing dynamics and costs pertaining to equipment in mission-critical / data center procurement.

  • Comprehend startup, commissioning, and integrated system testing scopes and how these processes impact equipment sourcing.

  • Validate equipment vendor pricing, upholding the highest standards of accuracy.

  • Efficiently oversee multiple preconstruction projects, ensuring streamlined operations.

  • Contribute significantly to recruiting, developing, and retaining associates and trade partners within preconstruction and operations.

  • Effectively manage diverse inputs from various stakeholders, ensuring cohesive collaboration to achieve positive results for both EGC and the client.

  • Clearly and concisely communicate procurement status, updates, and decisions to the client, including them on key decisions impacting their project or program.

  • Demonstrate and maintain professional credibility, integrity, trust, and commitment.

  • Execute additional duties as assigned, showcasing adaptability and commitment to excellence in mission-critical preconstruction management.

  • Other responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Construction Science, or Engineering

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in preconstruction services or strategic sourcing, preferably with an MEP focus

  • Effective communication and presentation abilities, demonstrating a capacity to influence decisions of team members, partners, and customers

  • Ability to interpret single line diagrams, flow diagrams, and specifications for Data Center Projects

  • Fundamental understanding of legal terms and conditions commonly found in purchasing agreements

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Negotiation and vendor management skills

  • Propensity to take initiative and is self-motivated

  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite

  • Detail-oriented, with strong organizational skills

  • Thrives working in a team environment
