PRIMARY FUNCTION: Performs specialized and complex support functions for School Nutrition Program menus and wellness for the Douglas County District
PAY GRADE: Professional-Technical
FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 231 Days (12 Months)
REPORTS TO: Executive Director of School Nutrition
EDUCATION LEVEL: Bachelor's Degree with Master's Preferred
EXPERIENCE: Minimum 2 years of experience in food service operations or related nutrition experience required
CERTIFICATION/LICENSE: None required; Registered Dietitian preferred.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Medium work
PROFICIENT SKILLS:
Knowledge of food service standards including menu planning, food preparation, portion control, and serving procedures
Knowledge of Federal, State, and local school food and nutrition policies and procedures
Proficiency with computer, data entry, and related applications
Must be able to collaborate effectively with District and school personnel, the general public, and work with diverse groups of people
Must be able to successfully manage multiple tasks, projects, and responsibilities
Ability to work independently or as a team member
Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
Excellent organizational and customer service skills
ESSENTIAL DUTIES: Demonstrate prompt and regular attendance.
Maintains nutrition data for all school nutrition products and manages nutrient database
Schedules and monitors School Nutrition Program menus and updates
Maintains recipes edits and updates as assigned by Coordinator
Communicates with cafeteria managers and foodservice workers as needed to relay information on menu
Assists in developing and maintaining School Nutrition contracts for food and supplies related to menus
Assists in grant writing and implementation of grant funded school nutrition programs
Assists in developing and conducting training and staff development for cafeteria managers and foodservice workers as determined by local and state guidelines Implements Wellness Policy including evaluations with schools, staff and department Create promotional materials to promote and market the menu and school nutrition program
Provides assistance to school staff and managers in the implementation of special diet orders from physicians
Assists in managing menu requests and developing processes to serve the unique needs of individual schools in support of the District
Performs other duties as assigned by the appropriate administrator
Prepare and post social media, bulletin board, and serving line material
Complete reviews, site visits, and cover schools as needed.
