TITLE: Mentor Program Coordinator

SUMMARY: Reporting to the Superintendent of Schools or his/her designee, the Mentor Program Coordinator is responsible for instructional functions including, but not limited to, New Teacher Orientation and oversight of the Mentor Program. Mentor Program Coordinator keeps current on Massachusetts instructional initiatives as they apply to new teachers and coordinating other duties as assigned by the Superintendent of Schools or his/her designee.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Facilitates mentor training and assignment of mentors with copies of the assignment letters sent to the mentor, mentee, and Superintendent's Office.

Plans, develops, and coordinates new teacher orientation, training in school system policies and procedures for beginning teachers, and other programs supporting teacher development as assigned. Plans and collaborates with school principals to provide support for beginning teachers. Delivers system-wide orientation, training, mentoring, and support programs for beginning teachers.

Assists the District's Professional Development Committee with developing, implementing and evaluating curriculum and instruction for beginning teachers. Develops, maintains, and facilitates a scope and sequence of required topics to be covered by mentors and mentees throughout the mentoring process, inclusive of mentoring topics to be covered at new teacher orientation. Facilitates mentor-mentee meetings quarterly, to provide ongoing support and review of the mentoring process.

Provides resources to mentors/mentees regarding emerging professional development themes. Provides ongoing support for teachers in their third and fourth year of employment through twice yearly individual meetings. Performs other duties related to the Mentoring Program as required by the Superintendent.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Education and Experience Must demonstrate previous experience in a leadership role.

Must have mentoring experience and a minimum of 5 years teaching in the Oxford Public School District. Must have attained three consecutive years of overall proficiency on his/her performance evaluations.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Must possess ability to maintain high confidentiality; exceptional verbal and written communication skills; willingness to build deeper understanding of Common Core Standards; conduct professional development for teachers and administrators; interpret, and analyze data; success working collaboratively with colleagues; multi-tasking; working with diverse groups; excellent interpersonal skills.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: While performing the duties of this job, employee is required to remain in a stationary position for extended periods, move/traverse short and long distances, and operate computer equipment/software. WORK ENVIRONMENT: This job is performed in a generally clean and healthy school environment. The noise level is usually moderate to loud but occasionally high depending upon student population and activities.
