Your Responsibilities
As a Mentor Coordinator ensures program quality and performance related to recruiting, screening, matching, monitoring and closing the relationship with the mentor and mentee, and the mentor program coordinator communicates with the mentor, parent/guardian and mentee throughout the relationship. Additional responsibilities include:
Staff will be in the Jackson County Hillcrest Office and/or community for outreach and recruitment one day weekly.
Recruitment efforts will focus on rural areas with speaking opportunities and marketing strategies. We will provide a minimum of 1 outreach recruitment event quarterly (ex. fire stations, recreation centers) in an area classified as rural.
Advisory council meetings will be held quarterly.
Evaluate our current and previous fundraising efforts during quarterly meetings to identify avenues of improvement for our sustainability strategy.
Problem gambling and substance abuse prevention education will be added to our Mentor training program. Training occurs after every new mentor is interviewed (a minimum of 25 mentors will be reached.)
"Your Life Iowa" will be linked to our program website and updated quarterly as needed.
What You Need
High School Diploma or equivalent
Extremely strong organizational, writing, verbal and interpersonal skills.
Ability to function independently and as part of a team.
What Makes You Stand Out
Bachelor's degree preferred with emphasis in social work, psychology, volunteer management, and/or education.
Experience mentoring, youth development and/or volunteer management, working with in nonprofits, community organizations and/or schools preferred.
Experience in mentoring, youth development and/or volunteer management.
Experience with Prevention of alcohol, tobacco, other drug use and/or out problem gambling behaviors; Engagement of diverse community members and multiple community sectors; and Mentoring services, program development and evaluation.
