As a Mental Health Worker II assigned to group home in the Adult Community Clinical Services (ACCS) program, assists in development and implementation of Individual Action Plans; acts as advocate for assigned persons served. Responsible for all appropriate and timely record keeping to ensure documentation of progress and to ensure compliance with existing DMH regulations and program procedures.
Maintains a therapeutic atmosphere and professional performance, as Medication Administration Program (MAP) certified staff responsible for knowledge and implementation of MAP practices and policies. Assists in a teaching atmosphere to educate in areas of Rehab such as symptom management, ADL skills, such as personal hygiene, cooking, housekeeping, clothing maintenance and nutrition by utilizing behavior modification techniques and counseling techniques, role modeling and/or other individualized or group methods to promote growth and recovery. Structures and encourages constructive activities within the program and community by developing recreational and educational programs through monthly house meetings, and individual meetings to assist in utilizing their leisure time appropriately and independently within the community.
Notifies Residential Supervisor or ACCS Director of pertinent information. Assists with the oversight of staff to ensure that shift and advocacy responsibilities are completed and performs related work as required. The incumbent to this position is required to have a current and valid drivers license as they will driving clients to and from appointments and activities using either their personal vehicle or a program vehicle.
Please note: In accordance with an agreement between the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, Department of Mental Health and AFSCME/Council 93, employees assigned to a work unit where the Medication Administration Program (MAP) is used are required to pass MAP certification within 6 months of entering the position or 3 examination opportunities, whichever comes first. Employees are required to maintain MAP certification as long as you are working in said program.
Cape & Islands Site / Pocasset Mental Health Center provides comprehensive services to adults and children. Programs include a 16-bed acute in-patient unit, Case Management, Partial Hospitalization Program and Adult Community Clinical Services.

MINIMUM ENTRANCE REQUIREMENTS: Applicants must have at least (A) one year of full-time or equivalent part-time experience in providing direct care service to the mentally ill, emotionally or physically handicapped, or (B) any equivalent combination of the required experience and the substitutions below.
I. An Associate's degree or higher with a major in psychology, human services, mental health or retardation may be substituted for the required experience.*
