Mental Health Technician 1 - Underfill - Minimum Qualifications Waived

The Position

Mental Health Technicians supplement the work of mental health professionals, health specialists, and nursing staff in providing direct client care for clients in a mental health facility.

The Division of Child and Family Services is recruiting for a Mental Health Technician 1 (MHT) underfilling Mental Health Technician 3. The MHT provides care, training and treatment to adolescents with behavioral and emotional disturbances in a 24 hour/7 day a week in a residential setting at a Psychiatric Residential Treatment Facility (PRFT). Youth served by the PRTF program are designated as Severely Emotionally Disturbed and exhibit significant behavioral challenges including physical and verbal aggression, non-compliance, challenges to authority figures, school problems (academic and behavioral), peer and social difficulties, and family issues.

MHT's provide direct care services, basic skills training, psychosocial training, and case management, working directly with youth ages 12-17, and work directly with youth individually, in a group setting, and with families. The incumbent will work with youth in crisis, complete safety checks, run precautions, complete safety protocols, and respond to emergency situations according to policy and procedures.
