Job Description Correctional Care | Committed Careers | Corizon Health

We have an exceptional opportunity for a Mental Health Tech to join our healthcare team at Lewis Correctional Center located in Buckeye, Arizona.

Qualifications of the Corizon Health Mental Health Tech

  • High school graduate or equivalent

  • One year experience in a mental health care environment.

  • Subject to initial and ongoing security clearance requirements.

Responsibilities of the Corizon Health Mental Health Tech

  • Logs requests for offsite and diagnostic studies. Maintains mental health clinic logs and ensures that appointments are scheduled according to DOC protocols.

  • Assists nursing and other staff in issuing and tracking minor medical equipment (e.g. heating pads).

  • Collects data from ER logs, segregation logs, etc. for monthly QI reporting.

  • Coordinates scheduling of on-site specialty appointments (e.g. X-ray, physical therapy, medical-surgical subspecialties).

  • Answers telephone, takes messages and makes telephone calls as needed. Types correspondence, reports or memorandums, as needed. Orders, receives and maintains office supplies.

  • Maintains roster or appointment book based on scheduled appointments, both offsite and onsite, as needed.

  • Updates medical diet lists, as needed.

  • Other related duties as requested by Supervisors or Health Services Administrator

Position Summary The behavioral health technician, as part of the residential care treatment team, identifies, triages and manages clients with medical and behavioral health problems within the residential care setting. In addition, the behavioral health technician provides skill training through psychoeducation and patient education strategies and develops specific behavioral change plans for clients and behavioral health protocols for adults with mental health disorders. Who we are Successful Journeys Integrated Care (SJIC) is a community-based, multi-service organization providing treatment and support to individuals impacted by mental illness. Our services promote opportunities for people to participate in integrated community-based activities. Through our Integrated Services, we offer Rehabilitation and Residential Programs in the Greater Phoenix area. Qualifications High school diploma or G.E.D. Minimum two (2) years behavioral health experience with 18 + college credits in behavioral health, psychology, or like field. If not degreed, minimum four (4) years experience in behavioral health. First aid and CPR certification and CPI/CTI Certification upon hire. OR, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above. Position Classification Non-Exempt/Parttime Demands The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling and climbing all day. The employee must frequently lift or move objects and clients weighing over 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Other Information Position requires a flexible schedule to include weekends. Finger print clearance level 1 card and TB screening annually.
