Mental Health Specialist
The Mental Health Specialist develops, implements, and evaluates comprehensive programs to support overall faculty and staff mental health and well-being. This Mental Health Specialist will focus on providing mental health trainings to include Mental Health First Aid, QPR (suicide prevention), limited 1:1 counseling and programming to include mindfulness/resiliency, stress management.
Day to day will look like…
Planning and implementation of comprehensive mental health promotion program to a diverse faculty/staff population on topics to cover the dimensions of wellness identified as Student Health and Well-Being unit priorities.
Assist with Wellness Ambassadors program and provide trainings specifically for this group and their departments

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree and 3 or more years of related experience, which may be substituted by equivalent combination of certification, training, education, and/or experience. Licensed or eligible to obtain a license as a mental health professional in the state of South Carolina.
Preferred Qualifications
Master's degree and licensed clinician is preferred. Preferred candidate will have strong diagnostic and intervention skills. Previous experience with late adolescent and emerging adult populations in a mental health setting. Previous experience in a college/university counseling center or with college-aged students. Experience with providing crisis intervention and stabilization services in a mental health setting. Previous experience working within a diverse, multidisciplinary team. Grant writing experience. Experience in leading activities within a Healthy Campus Initiative.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
Effective written and verbal communication skills. Ability to quickly and effectively synthesize information into a coherent analysis. Strong decision-making and persuasion skills. Strong clinical skills. Familiarity with evidence based mental health treatment in an outpatient setting.

Develop, coordinate, and evaluate mental health promotion and stress management presentations.
Conduct evaluation of effectiveness of programming using outcomes-based assessments.
Provide grief and postvention support to faculty/staff
Assess and refer faculty/staff for mental health support
