PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • Up to 2 years of graduate professional education may be substituted for the experience requirement on a year to year basis

COMPUTER/OFFICE SKILLS REQUIRED:

  • Google suites; Microsoft Office; general keyboarding skills

  • Ability to learn and use mental health software (EXYM).

PHYSICAL SKILLS REQUIRED:

  • Must pass pre-employment physical examination

  • Must have ability to commute to various sites including off campus and have the ability to physically restrain children if needed.

CLEARANCES REQUIRED:

  • DOJ, FBI, Child Abuse Index

  • Insurability Under Corporate Automobile Insurance

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:

  • Deliver mental health services within their scope of practice.

  • In consultation with the treatment team and clinical supervisor, use independent judgment and discretion in identifying mental health needs, creating appropriate intervention strategies and self-initiating treatment interventions

  • In consultation with the treatment team and clinical supervisor, assess the effectiveness of services and change service delivery as needed

  • Provide crisis intervention services as needed

  • Develop an understanding of the McKinley treatment model

  • Create and facilitate group mental health activities based upon assessments of group mental health needs

  • Adhere to mental health requirements regarding activities, structure and documentation.

  • Work cooperatively with an interdisciplinary team to plan and implement mental health services

  • Monitor at-risk behaviors and intervene appropriately.

  • Communicate appropriately and professionally with all employees, children, families and other individuals.

  • Attend all required orientation classes, training sessions and meetings as assigned.

  • Conduct all interactions with children and families with respect; mindful of treatment plans with extra attention to specialized plans.

  • Assist in the orientation and training of new employees.

  • Other related duties as assigned.

McKinley Childrens Centers comprehensive array of programs and services which touch nearly 1,500 lives annually include Residential Treatment, Foster Care, Adoptions, Mental Health Services and Special Education. McKinley is nationally accredited, licensed by the California Department of Social Services and is certified by the Los Angeles County Department of Mental Health. Our environment is highly therapeutic with many opportunities for activities with the children. Our beautiful 30 acre campus has a large covered outdoor basketball court, Olympic size pool, football/baseball field, play grounds, huge cafeteria, and a sports complex across the street which has baseball fields, tennis courts, and a running track. EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: * Masters Degree in a field related to Health Care Administration, or in a Behavioral Science with BBS Licensure * Minimum of 5 years of experience working in the mental health field and with Medi-Cal as the primary payor * 5 years supervisory experience in a Health Care and/or Mental Health setting COMPUTER/OFFICE SKILLS REQUIRED: * Word Processing, Email, internet, ability to learn to use the Electronic Health Record System, basic office skills (i.e. typing, telephone, copier) PHYSICAL SKILLS REQUIRED: * Must pass pre-employment physical exam, TB and drug screening * Ability to commute to various sites on and off campus * Ability to work extended hours as needed CLEARANCES REQUIRED: * DOJ, FBI, Child Abuse Index * Insurability Under Corporate Automobile Insurance DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES: SERVICE ADMINISTRATION * Assume oversight of a multi-county, multi-location Mental Health program. * Design and monitor mental health services to ensure a culturally competent system of care that meets the physical, social, and psychological needs of the children and families. * Collaborate with key stakeholders to reduce barriers, and improve timely access to services. * Participate in cross-departmental work to increase clear communication and mutual support between programs. * Actively lead and initiate changes in programs as needed * Utilize data to monitor contract utilization and service offerings by provider. * Ensure that the Electronic Health Record is maintained properly. * Be a strategic, forward looking leader by assessing opportunities to grow and enhance services. QUALITY * Ensure compliance to regulations set forth by State and Contracting Agencies and accreditation bodies. * Participate in the monitoring of case records to ensure that required treatment documentation is included and meets agency and professional standards. * Work jointly with the Quality Systems department to review data related to performance assessments and develop plans for continual improvement. PERSONNEL * Participate in the hiring and performance management of team members and cultivate an effective culture. * Provide leadership and supervision to direct reports in a manner consistent with McKinleys management philosophy * Provide training to staff as needed, and work with a cross-disciplinary team to ensure that team has taken required training courses. * Assure staff has DMH required trainings. FISCAL * In Conjunction with the SVP of Programs, oversee the annual budget and monitor expenses throughout the year. * Actively participate in the development of annual budgets.
