Counselors within the center provide brief individual counseling, crisis services, outreach, advocacy, workshops, and therapy groups. The center works as a collaborative team around initiatives to enhance mental health services for the students at UT Dallas. Counselors at this time are offering both in-person and virtual mental health services and are allotted one work-from-home day/week.
Minimum Education and Experience
Master's degree in Counseling, Marriage and Family Therapy, or Clinical Social Work from an accredited program and clinical independent licensure in the state of Texas before start date; OR doctoral degree in Counseling or Clinical Psychology from an APA accredited Program and licensure as a psychologist within the first year of employment
1 year of related experience
Ability to work effectively and cooperatively with a multidisciplinary team of professionals
Strong clinical skills and ability to maintain up to date and accurate documentation
Preferred Education and Experience
Licensed in Texas
Previous experience in a university/college setting
Interest and experience in providing supervision and training to practicum therapists and/or doctoral interns from a relational and use-of-self model
Bilingual
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES OF THIS POSITION INCLUDE:
Individual and group psychotherapy within a brief therapy model
Initial consultations, outreach, workshops, and consultation/liasonship with campus partners
Clinical supervision and training for practicum therapists and doctoral interns
Crisis intervention
THE STUDENT COUNSELING CENTER (SCC) IS SEEKING THERAPISTS WITH ONE (OR MORE) OF THE FOLLOWING SPECIALTIES:
Outreach Coordinator; this counselor will help in the planning and implementation of outreach programming for the counseling center. This staff member will be a part of the Community Engagement team and should exude commitment and excitement for outreach/educational/preventative programming and engagement with students both within and outside of the counseling center.
Crisis coordination and expertise; this counselor will help in coordinating crisis services and policies and procedures within the SCC as well as providing crisis services (risk assessments, safety planning, triage) to UTD students and consultation around crisis to SCC staff. This staff member may also assist the Clinical Director in building a triage system and team.
Counselor holding knowledge and experience in providing mental health services and identity-based support and programming to the student population.
Working with common struggles and presenting concerns of college students, including eating disorders, substance use, trauma, and suicidality. The ability to potentially provide more formal assessments in these areas is also preferred.

Remote Work Statement:
After the probationary period, this role may be eligible for a hybrid (partly remote/partly in office) work schedule, subject to business need and manager approval. Must be located within the DFW Area and have the ability to be on campus with 24 hours of notice. A UT Dallas Remote Work Agreement will be required within 14 days after approval.
