Job Responsibilities

With our Agency's mission to support the recovery of people with mental illnesses, we provide a complete array of medical and support services for children, adults, and families throughout South Carolina.

This position is located at the Clemson University Campus Police Department and the Pickens County Clinic, 337 West Main Street, Easley, SC 29640 of the Anderson-Oconee-Pickens Mental Health Center, 200 McGee Road, Anderson, SC 29625.

Under direct supervision, provides crisis assessments and crisis interventions on the Clemson University campus working directly with the Clemson University Police Department and their Behavioral Intervention Team. The overall purpose of this position is to quickly respond to mental health crisis on the campus, assess and triage the patient to make treatment recommendations. Will coordinate directly with the University CAPS (Counseling and Psychological Services) Program for student follow-up services.

1.Provides emergency assessments of patients experiencing crisis. Conducts face to face consultations as part of a University Law enforcement team which may include ride-along with law enforcement.

2.Formulate level of care and disposition of students in crisis. Educate patients on community resources and make arrangements for immediate disposition regarding transfers and referrals.

Serve as a provider of the crisis intervention, by administering brief individual therapy to address crisis and identify triggers for crisis behavior to include development of crisis safety plan up to initiating the process of involuntary commitment. Provides linkages to the CAPS program. for every student response.

3.Participate in weekly Assessment/ Community Response staff meetings individual supervision PRN, and daily treatment staffing. Serve as liaison to local Community Mental Health Center to provide updates on SCDMH clients. Provides training to law enforcement and participates in campus and community outreach activities.

4.Complies with all applicable Quality Assurance. Corporate compliance and Cultural Competence policies, procedures and regulations, and all Federal and State laws as well as attend all trainings classified mandatory by Federal & State regulations. Engage in additional trainings to maintain professional development.

5.Performs other duties as required.

Minimum and Additional Requirements

State Requirement: A master's degree in guidance, counseling, the social sciences or a related field.

Agency Preferred: A master's degree in guidance, counseling, the social sciences or a related field and one year post master's degree experience.

Preferred Qualifications

Bilingual abilities in English and Spanish (or another language) are a plus.
