Job Responsibilities

With our Agency's mission to support the recovery of people with mental illnesses, we provide a complete array of medical and support services for children, adults, and families throughout South Carolina.

This position is located at the SC Department of Mental Health, Lexington County Community Mental Health Center (LCCMHC) Child, Adolescent, and Family Clinic (CAF), located at 305 Palmetto Park Boulevard, Lexington, SC 29072. Services will be primarily delivered in a school setting within Lexington County.

Under general supervision, provides evidence-based services (safe, effective, and measurable) to promote and support the mental wellness of children and adolescents while embedded in a school setting.

Responsibilities for this Mental Health Professional I - CAF School Mental Health include but are not limited to:

  • Provide direct clinical treatment services to patients and families, including (but not limited to), assessment, individual therapy, group treatment, family therapy, crisis interventions for a minimum of 803 hours annually.

  • Mental health services will be provided with a focus on cultural diversity and competency.

  • Participates in clinical supervision, treatment team meetings, pursues professional development, and demonstrates effective use of social and interpersonal knowledge and skills.

  • Develops and maintains positive professional relationships with assigned schools.

  • Reviews caseload weekly for timely discharge, engagement, transition, and follow-up.

  • Completes clinical services notes/documentation in an appropriate and timely manner that meets Federal/State/QA/CARF Standards.

  • Complies with corporate compliance policies, regulations, statues, (General State, Local DMH) or laws regulating the provision of health care and demonstrates fiscal responsibility and accountability.

Minimum and Additional Requirements

State Minimum Requirements:

A master's degree in guidance, counseling, the social sciences or a related field.

Agency Minimum Requirements:

Candidates must be eligible for licensure with the State of South Carolina LLR Board of Counselors or Board of Social Work. Candidates must also qualify for credentialing as a Mental Health Professional in accordance with DMH Office of Quality Management.

Note: If any Agency Requirements are listed above, applicants must also meet those requirements to be considered for the position.

Preferred Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications:

Ideal candidate will be licensed by the State of South Carolina as LPC, LPC-A, LMSW, LISW-CP, LMFT, or LMFT-A.

Bilingual abilities in English and Spanish (or another language) are a plus.

Additional Comments

Must be able to lift at least 20 lbs.
