The Office of the Public Guardian (OPG) is recruiting for Mental Health Nurses II who treat and care for physically and mentally ill patients in a field-based setting. Duties may include performing assessments of physical and emotional needs of individuals and provide patient care; participating in group therapy sessions; administering psychotropic medications; observing, recording and reporting medications and treatments; assisting with referrals if a medical condition needs follow-up; assisting physicians in responding to documentation corrections required by chart audits; and assisting with field visits.The resulting eligible list will be used to fill current and future vacancies in OPG and other County departments as they arise.

Must possess all of the following:
License: Must possess and maintain a current license in good standing as a Registered Nurse with the California Board of Registered Nursing.
Certification: Must possess and maintain a Healthcare Provider level Basic Life Support certification.
Experience: One (1) year of Registered Nursing experience.
A Bachelor's degree in nursing may substitute for up to six (6) months of the required experience.
One (1) year of experience working in a psychiatric setting as a Psychiatric Technician or Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) may substitute for up to (6) months of the required experience.
Applicants fluent in American Sign Language, Arabic, Korean, Mandarin, Spanish and/or Vietnamese are strongly encouraged to apply. Additional compensation is associated with positions requiring the use of bilingual skills. Testing of bilingual skills may be required to receive additional compensation.
Department of Behavioral Health: The ideal candidate will possess at least one (1) year of experience as a registered nurse working with both children and adults in an outpatient behavioral health clinic.
Office of the Public Guardian: The ideal candidate will possess experience working with the persistent severely mentally ill, possess and maintain a valid California Class C driver license and be willing to travel throughout the State, and have strong patient care skills.
