  • The Mental Health Counselor is a member of the multidisciplinary patient treatment team. He/she implements clinical care responsibilities in accordance with unit/departmental policies, procedures and standards under the supervision of a registered nurse. The Mental Health Counselor must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to patients ranging in age from pre-school to adolescence on the Child Unit and ages 19 through senior adulthood on the adult unit. BLS certification and Bachelor's degree required.

VIEW JOBS 12/12/2018 12:00:00 AM 2019-03-12T00:00 The Erich Lindemann Mental Health Center is looking for a motivated overnight Mental Health Worker I for the Lindemann Inn Shelter. The ideal candidate has experience working with clients with serious, persistent mental illness, substance abuse and/or who have experienced homelessness. S/he must be flexible and able to work collaboratively with shelter guests and other staff in a challenging environment. The Lindemann Inn is an emergency shelter for DMH clients consisting of a 60-bed CoEd Unit and a 20-bed Women's Unit and located inside the Erich Lindemann Mental Health Center. GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: * Supervise and assists with the daily care, treatment and rehabilitation of homeless, mentally ill clients residing at the Lindemann Inn. * Updates shelter forms as needed. * Attends and participates in all meetings. * Maintains a clean and safe facility. * Administers medications and completes all MAP related tasks as needed. * Floats between shelter units as needed. * Performs all other related work as needed. Duties and Responsibilities (these duties are a general summary and not all inclusive) 1. Assists, instructs and supervises clients in the Lindemann Inn with their ADL skills (i.e. showers, meals, laundry, housekeeping, etc) 2. Updates all shelter forms on a regular basis. 3. Maintains a consistent pattern of punctuality and attendance. 4. Maintains client records. 5. Implements clients' treatment plans. 6. Provides, participates and supervises recreational activities for the clients. 7. Assess and respond with the correct therapeutic intervention to clients in crisis. 8. Assists professional or medical staff in providing services to clients as needed. (i.e. pick up medications, sit with client waiting for an ambulance, etc) 9. Performs housekeeping duties in client area/general shelter area) 10. Attends and participates in all meetings (i.e. supervision, treatment planning, training seminars). 11. May drive state vehicle as needed. 12. Documents client information in shelter log/client chart. 13. Assists clients with filing Human Rights Complaints, as needed. 14. Meets with clients upon admission to the shelter, explains and answers any questions regarding the shelter guidelines/ rules. 15. Supervises clients at meal times in the cafeteria. 16. Organizes, participates and supervises recreational and social activities for the clients. 17. Performs all other related work as assigned or instructed by the Shift Supervisor. 18. Completes necessary forms on the computer in a timely manner. 19. Completes all MAP related duties as needed including administering medications. 20. Maintains up to date MAP and CPR certification Successful completion of MAP training and certification within the first 6 months of employment. Preferred Qualifications: Given the population served, bilingual or multilingual fluency.
