Shift: 8am to 5pm Monday to Thursday and 8am to 2pm Friday

The role you'll contribute:

Under the general supervision of a Licensed Mental Health Counselor or Licensed Clinical Social Worker, the Registered Mental Health Counselor will provide short-term, structured, evidence-based psychotherapy as part of an appropriate treatment plan. They will assist and counsel patients and families with psycho-social and emotional concerns utilizing their knowledge in assessment of physical, psycho-social, environmental, spiritual, and financial factors to achieve the patient's healthcare goals. This counseling will occur in an individual or group therapy setting.

  • Provides group and individual counseling therapies based on the population being served and Provides counseling services in accordance with the collaborative plan of treatment.

  • Recognizes all population development norms, behavior, motor skills, sensorium changes and physiological norms and appropriately reports abnormal findings and/or patterns, or a change in condition immediately to the psychiatrist.

  • Demonstrates appropriate awareness of suspected abuse/neglect to patients in all age groups and takes measures to report them according to medical group guidelines.

  • Encourages verbalization of fears, anxiety, maintains therapeutic communication with patient and encourages family participation and support.

  • Counsels clients and families concerning the facilitation of the plan of treatment.

The expertise and experiences you'll need to succeed:

Minimum qualifications:

  • Must possess a master's degree in counseling from an accredited program by the Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP), the Masters in Psychology and Counseling Accreditation Council (MPCAC), or an equivalent accrediting body which consists of at least 60 semester hours or 80 quarter hours to apply for licensure.

  • Minimum of one-year experience in counseling in a hospital, outpatient clinic, rehabilitation center, or mental health program preferred.

  • Must work under a Qualified Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) or Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) Supervisor for 100 weeks, completing 1500 hours of psychotherapy.

  • Must become a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) within 26 months of hire.

  • The CPI (Crisis Prevention Intervention) training program is required within 60 days of employment.
