Position: Mental Health Counselor II (Bilingual Preferred)

Classification: Full-time, Exempt

Reports to: Program Coordinator

Location: Houston, TX

Position Description:

The Mental Health Counselor will provide one-on-one counseling to youth in elementary, middle, and high school settings throughout the Greater Houston Area. This role requires daily travel to assigned schools and flexibility to work during school hours and occasional evenings if needed. The position offers additional opportunities for office-based and virtual counseling services during the summer months.

Required Qualifications:

  • Master's in social work or related human services field.

  • Fully licensed as an LMSW; or

  • Provisionally licensed as an LPC-Associate, or LMFT-Associate.

  • Must have passed licensure examination to obtain LMSW, LMFT-Associate, or LPC-Associate.

  • Employment is contingent upon obtaining full/provisional licensure within 90 days of hire.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • LPC, LCSW, or LMFT.

  • Entry level acceptable with one year's experience.

  • Experience in case management, crisis intervention, or child welfare.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to relate well to children and families in crisis.

  • Comfortable with complexity, advocacy, and mediation.

  • Strong ability to work independently as well as part of a team.

  • Good paperwork and organizational skills.

  • Ability to submit all documentation electronically and in the office timely.

  • Knowledge of social work practices.

  • Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing.

  • Ability to work collaboratively with fellow staff and referral sources.

  • Ability to maintain a professional, confidential working environment.

  • Ability to work with culturally diverse populations and workforce.

  • Ability to work flexible hours which vary according to client needs.

Work Conditions:

  • Environment: Home-based office, Schools, Community/Virtual settings

  • Range of Schedule: Mon -Fri, 7:00 am to 8:00 pm (vary according to client schedule)

  • Travel: Frequent, local (Must have reliable transportation and a valid Texas driver license)
