About the Job

Assumes responsibility for providing skilled, creative, high quality care to patients under the direction and

supervision of a Registered Nurse. Performs a variety of direct and indirect patient care duties and

responsibilities in collaboration with other nursing staff. Works effectively and collaboratively with the

multi-disciplinary treatment team to enhance the smooth delivery of quality nursing care.

Responsibilities
1.Support the hospital in such a manner that there is a strong and positive commitment to quality patient

care.
2.Serve as a preceptor for new employees and educates staff, as needed.
3.Utilize supervision in a positive and thoughtful manner to enhance professional improvement and

development.
4.Attend clinical meetings that will have an impact on patient care.
5.Maintain solid understanding of hospital policies and protocols, and practices within those policies and

protocols.
6.Participate in any ongoing quality improvement studies that will have positive patient care outcomes.
7.Maintain understanding of and follow regulatory agencies' expectations and guidelines (i.e. DMH, DPH,

JCAHO, payors, etc.).
8.Record and report all observed symptoms, reactions, treatments and changes in the patient's status to

the Registered Nurse.
9.Monitor the patient milieu for safety issues and assist with promoting a positive therapeutic

environment.
10. Respond to patient care needs and issues, assist patients with personal hygiene and other activities of

daily living. Collaborate with nurses to assist with any patient nursing needs.
11. Assist in the admitting, discharging and transferring process ensuring that patient safety is addressed,

monitor patient valuables during belongings search and enter proper data into computer.

Qualifications

College degree in psychology or related field preferred with theoretical as well as practical knowledge of

the clinical area.

Exhibits ability to be competent in the following areas:

  1. One-to-one interactions with patients
  2. De-escalation/Restraint Management

Demonstrates a positive demeanor that allows for respectful and courteous interaction with all external

and internal customers. Works cooperatively and effectively with others with ability to adapt to changes in

the workplace as part of maintaining currency in profession.

Must be fluent in English (verbal and written).

About the Job Incumbent is responsible for completing registration of patients in a behavioral health setting, verifying insurance eligibility, entering insurance authorizations, signing patients in to the hospital, triage of incoming phone calls to the admissions area and providing administrative and clerical support services to management and clinical staff. Shift 24 hours per week, evening shift Responsibilities 1. Obtaining demographic and insurance information in order to complete patient registration in EPIC. 2. Orienting patients to the inpatient hospital setting and explaining admission process. 3. Complete the admissions process, obtaining patient consent to treatment, explaining legal status and review patient rights. 4. Verifying insurance coverage and documenting insurance verification and authorizations. 5. Assist in maintaining safety in patient area by responding to patient needs and inquiries, keeping patients informed of admission progress and escorting patients to the unit. 6. Provide referral information to patients that do not meet criteria for admission. 7. Offer information, referral & crisis intervention service to persons telephoning or visiting the site. 8. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications * Minimum HS diploma, Bachelors or Associates degree preferred * Knowledge of electronic medical records, knowledge of behavioral health insurance coverage * Ability to interact with patients and colleagues in a professional manner, good customer service skills, able * to multi-task and work in a fast-paced, multi-person office, comfortable with behavioral health patient population * Minimum 1-2 years experience in hospital registration/admission/insurance verification * Fluent in English with ability to communicate well both verbally and in writing Physical Requirements Must possess mobility to work in a standard office setting and to use standard office equipment, including a computer and telephone, and to attend meetings at various sites; strength to lift and carry materials weighing up to 10 pounds; must be able to lift up to 50 lbs occasionally, vision to read printed materials and a computer screen; and hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone.
