Mental Health Counselor 1 - Underfill

The Position

Mental Health Counselors provide counseling, case management, direct clinical services, community and home based services, and behavioral and human services to mentally ill, developmentally disabled and/or emotionally disturbed clients in an outpatient, residential, community or similar setting.

Incumbents perform in a trainee capacity and acquire the knowledge, skills and abilities required in this occupation.

The Nevada Division of Child and Family Services (DCFS) is recruiting for a Mental Health Counselor 1 (MHC) underfilling an MHC 2 position located in Las Vegas. The Mobile Crisis Response Team receives, and triages calls from families and community partners, responds in teams to families with children experiencing a mental or behavioral health crisis.

Responses can take place in emergency departments, schools, homes, and other community settings. MHCs are responsible for completing a semi-structured assessment, providing support, immediate interventions, and create plans jointly with the Psychiatric Caseworker, youth, and family to ensure the safety of the youth and to maintain them in their homes, schools, and communities when able. MHCs provide counseling, case management, direct clinical services, community and home-based services to children and adolescents in crisis in an outpatient clinic or community setting.

Teams can remain in place for up to 45 days to provide clinical and case management services to families. This position will be the clinical lead on the Mobile Crisis Response Team.
