Summary:

Processes IRA/CD related distributions, transfers and death claims according to established/approved procedures, prepares/distributes notifications, letters and forms, and enters all required information and transactions into appropriate Teachers/Department systems, programs and logs. Maintains/updates Department files and prepares reports.

Education/Experience:

  • A high school education or GED required

  • Minimum one-year general work experience required

  • One-year banking or office work experience and familiarity with IRA/CD related laws/regulations/reporting requirements, banking policies, procedures, practices, protocols, systems and programs preferred

  • Oral/written communication, mathematical, problem-solving, multitasking and internet skills and excellent telephone etiquette required

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word required

Job Responsibilities:

  • Maintains the check printer by ensuring first/last check numbers are in sequence with those in the system, verifying the calculated total of printed checks matches the amount in the system generated report, and investigating/resolving discrepancies.

  • Verifies IRAs Withdrawal Forms and Transfer Requests for accuracy, completeness, proper coding and notarization, and follows up with Branch staff/members to resolve issues. Reviews deposit tickets for IRS contributions to verify amounts and tax year.

  • Verifies required minimum distribution calculations to ensure their accuracy and establishes distributions in the system according to member instructions. Mails notification letters and forms needed to initiate distributions to members as required, and follows up to ensure their return.

  • Verifies Maturity Letters and Premature Redemption Forms for proper signatures, and calculates interest, dividends and penalties to ensure accuracy and proper posting. Reverses penalties as approved, enters corrections into the GL and Department systems as needed, and sets up payments in the system according to member instructions.

  • Services Teachers Branch/other departments' management/staff and members by responding quickly, completely, accurately and courteously to their calls/emails, quality checking submitted documents, advising on documentation that is required, verifying signatures, and ensuring policies are adhered to.

  • Ensures Beneficiary Designation Forms are accurate/complete. Establishes Health Savings Accounts as requested.

  • Processes death claims by contacting beneficiaries and forwarding appropriate letter/forms, calculates distributions and establishes them within the system based on beneficiaries' instructions and regulations.

  • Calculates and establishes required minimum distributions (RMDs), and ensures that member accounts are properly noted. Ensures the accuracy/completeness of the RMD list by researching and providing dates that members reached or will reach age requirements, adding/removing names as appropriate, etc.

  • Prepares Agreements for new Certificates, ensures they are reviewed by the senior staff and properly signed and stamped. Sends copies of Agreements to members and follows up to ensure a signed copy is returned.

  • Searches the internet and contacts competitors to obtain information on rates, special promotions, and updates the rate comparison spreadsheet weekly. Updates rates in the system on a weekly or as needed basis, and advises staff in other departments of changes.

  • Prepares reports on IRA/CDs as requested. Enters all necessary member related information and transactions into appropriate Teachers/Department systems, programs and logs in an accurate and timely manner.

  • Cross sells to members by advising them of other Teachers products and services that they can take advantage of and completing applications for Retail products/services.

  • Keeps Department management informed of all activities, problems and issues. Records hours worked in the timekeeping system in an accurate and timely manner.

The good faith range for this position is $21.65 to $25.50 an hour. This range is an estimate, based on potential employee qualifications and operational needs. The salary may vary above and below the stated amounts, as permitted by applicable law.
