Under general supervision of the Assistant Director of Informal Recreation and Member Services, coordinate the day-to-day operations of the Activities and Recreation Center (ARC) and the UC Davis Health Fitness Center recreation facilities. Responsibilities include but are not limited to, lost and found, Informal Recreation and Physical Education programming, reservations, monitoring budgets, and assisting with facility-related repairs.

Work cooperatively with another Member Services Coordinator in the areas of customer service, access control, etc.; act as back up for the Membership Coordinator as necessary. Assist with special events, and serve on department or campus committees in support of the Department of Campus Recreation, the Division of Student Affairs, and the UC Davis campus community.

Physical Demands:

Position requires lifting equipment weighing up to 50 lbs.

Work Environment:

Regular schedule will include evenings/nights and weekend shifts.

Position is a mandatory reporter for known or suspected child abuse and requires that a statement acknowledging the requirement to report child abuse be signed.

UC Davis is a smoke and tobacco free campus effective January 1, 2014. Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree in a related area and/or equivalent experience/training.

Supervision and leadership experience to recruit, hire, train, motivate and evaluate student staff.

Proficiency in both oral and written communication to interact with a diverse community in a clear, concise, effective, courteous and professional manner.

Experience in handling conflict resolution.

Knowledge of fitness and recreation equipment and their use.

Experience with computer applications such as Microsoft, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and database management.

Preferred Qualifications:

Current first aid, CPR, AED certification.

Experience in collegiate recreation facility operations, including ability to lead staff in providing and performing facility and equipment cleanliness and maintenance.

Ability to interpret, communicate, implement, and uphold policies and procedures.

Experience with budget development and efficiently monitoring expenditures.

Management and organizational skills to plan, organize/determine workload priorities, meet deadlines, direct numerous and varied projects and activities, and to follow-up and troubleshoot issues.

Master's Degree in a related area and/or equivalent experience/training.

In tandem, SMASH conducts research examining inequity in access and opportunity across K-12, higher education, and workplace contexts in order to improve the outcomes for underrepresented students in STEM fields.</p> <p>SMASH Academy is a five week, three-year Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) residential academic acceleration program for motivated, high school students from underrepresented populations (African-American, Latinx/Hispanic, Southeast Asian and/or Pacific Islander, and Native American), who have demonstrated an aptitude for science and math. During the summer component, SMASH provides accelerated classes, laboratory experiments and exposure to STEM fields; the academic rigor is alloyed with a strong community experience in residential dorms to introduce our scholars to a university environment. During the academic year, SMASH provides computer science courses, scholarship workshops, college counseling, community events and further exposure to STEM opportunities.</p> <p>This is not for the faint of heart. But if you think you have what it takes to dare to change the face of STEM, join us.</p> <p><strong>The Opportunity:</strong></p><p>As a member of the Site Management Team, the Program Coordinator plays a critical support role to the Site Director and liaison to Central Office. Working with the instructional and residential teams to support the successful delivery of the SMASH Academy by performing duties related to planning, directing and coordinating both the programmatic and operational activities of the program is essential. In this position, the Program Coordinator will play a key role in the success of SMASH scholars and staff through effective implementation of administrative processes, communication with scholars and families, and leading logistics for program events.</p> <p>This is approximately a 5-6 month assignment (March or April to August) which will initially be part-time leading to a full time engagement period for 1 week prior to and through the duration of the SMASH Academy.
