Under the direct supervision of the Membership Director, the Member Services Associate shall assist in implementation of the membership strategies that best meet the mission and needs of the agency as directed by the Membership Director. The strategy of the Membership Department, with the help of the Fitness team members, includes serving our membership base, increasing membership units, assisting with membership appreciation events, improving tracking, reporting, preparing and maintaining membership files and handling all follow-throughs on a timely basis.

It's important to have excellent people skills, exemplary oral and written communication skills, and be well organized.Attention to detail, strong computer abilities, and demonstration of proven sales experience are necessary.

The Member Services Associate is a team player, well versed in customer service, who has great listening skills with members as well as staff.

Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Attends staff meetings as directed.

Recruitment and Retention of JCC Members

  • Works to increase agency revenue through new member sales, retention, renewal process and personal training sales.

  • Makes outbound membership sales and account related calls.

  • Tracks, logs, and reports progress of leads and membership sales.

  • Achieves monthly personal and team goals.

  • Provides a level of excellent customer service through leadership and training.

  • Develops relationships and encourages member referrals.

  • Responsible for conducting annual and monthly membership renewal processes including custom letters to respective groups.

  • Responsible for membership account management and lead management.

  • Serves as one of the key staff people that provides tours of the facilities and follow-up with prospective members.

  • Works with accounts receivables, bank returns, and makes collection calls on a monthly basis.

  • Works collaboratively with Membership Supervisor and accounting to make necessary financial adjustments on members' accounts including being the key staff person making calls to acquire new payments as needed, changes in member status, and demographics on an on-going basis.

  • Conducts Optum, Silver & Fit, and Silver Sneakers program reporting monthly for payments to the JCC.

Administrative

  • Adhere to company Standards for all department operations.

  • Represent the Center in a positive and professional manner at all times and demonstrate the values presented in our Mission Statement.

  • Attend all meetings and training sessions as required.

  • Must exhibit strong interest in working in the fitness industry.

  • Excellent human relations, communications, and member service skills.

  • Cooperative and friendly attitude.

  • Works as manager on duty.

  • Helps manage Front Desk and Weight Room staff.

  • Responsible for opening and/or closing of the facility.

  • Needs flexibility with work hours, ideally early morning and/or evening hours are required.

Minimum Qualifications:

Qualifications

  • BA/ BS in related field or prior related field experience.

  • Ability to relate well with staff & community contacts.

  • Excellent communication skills.

  • Excellent computer skills.

  • Excellent with time management and the ability to multitask efficiently.

  • English Fluency required- Spanish would also be helpful!

Physical Demands

  • Walking around the JCC Campus for tours.

  • Sitting for more than three hours during the day.

  • Work in bent, twisted or awkward work posture and stand for more than two hours in a row.

  • Must be able to lift, bend, and/or reach, including with outstretched arms and overhead.

  • Requires working indoors in environmentally controlled conditions.

  • Do repetitive movements with hands and/or wrists.

Salary Range- $30,000-$36,000 per year based on experience.
