JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS

JOB SUMMARY:

The Member Service Representative is the primary and initial contact for our customers and members. This position requires a welcoming person with excellent customer service skills. Must have general office skills including telephone and computer skills along with knowledge of child development and care.

Responsible for building and maintaining relationships with the members including contacting members and addressing their concerns. Both informal and formal learning opportunities required by addressing parenting concerns, model parenting techniques, provide hands on tips, as well as, supplemental reading information when appropriate.

Flexibility and organization a must for the variety of duties. Responsibilities include: management of membership data, statistics, referrals, volunteers, payments, donations, and scheduling; coordination of activities; organization, cleaning, and maintenance of play equipment and play areas; teaching/facilitating interactive classes; and teach classes and/or present parenting information to the community; promote The Parenting Center in a variety of settings including at our site, St.

Tammany Parish Hospital, Health Fairs, and community events; and provide information and referrals. Services provided week days, with occasional evening and weekends.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, Child Development, or related field required (Master's degree preferred). Must have experience teaching in both individual and group settings with children and adults; secure networking with social service/community organizations, educational providers, businesses, medical providers, and referral sources; and have knowledge of child development and positive parenting techniques. Must be able to have a flexible schedule, available to work some evenings and weekends. Once employed, training provided to obtain and maintain certifications from American Heart Association CPR as an instructor, Child Passenger Safety Technician, Safe Sitter instructor, and parenting programs as determined.

Maintain licensure pertaining to degree. Training provided to obtain and maintain certifications from American Heart Association CPR as an instructor, Child Passenger Safety Technician, Safe Sitter instructor, and parenting programs as determined.

Knowledge to maintain social media and website. Must be able to develop presentation that may include PowerPoint, Video, and/or hands-on demonstrations.

Must be able to coordinate activities and organize work in an efficient and timely manner. Must be able to evaluate and establish priorities. Must be able to establish goals and objectives.

Must be capable of performing the day-to-day routine activities of the department. Moderate lifting required, depending on course assignment and transporting required. Must be a team player willing to perform other duties needed that may not be in job description.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Must possess good physical health. Some requirements include but are not limited to standing, sitting or walking for long periods of time.

Lifting at least 20 pounds is required. Must be able to work with a moderate level of noise.

Frequently (34%-66%) - talking, hearing, seeing

Occasionally (1%-33%) - lifting, carrying, pushing/pulling, balancing, crawling, handling/feeling, crouching, reaching
