Unit Receptionist / Patient Care Technician - Medical Surgical Unit
Shift: Second (3:00PM - 11:30PM)
Work Week: 24 Hours
Weekend Work Required: Every Other
Job Summary
The Medical Surgical UR/PCT will perform clerical duties and facilitate the smooth functioning of the patient care unit. Under the direction of a Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse, the Med/Surg UR/PCT will also assist the staff nurse with specific patient activities.
Primary Responsibilities
Completes all necessary forms, requisitions, communications, and special projects as assigned. Accurately transcribes physicians' orders (when applicable).
Acts as a central communication resource at the nursing station for all patient care activities. Maintains good customer service and patient confidentiality.
Accurately inputs and retrieves data.
Initiates, maintains, replaces, or completes various clerical forms, reports, supplies, etc.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Ability to communicate effectively-both verbally and in writing
Fluency in medical terminology preferred
Solid knowledge of Windows and Microsoft Office applications; Outlook proficiency preferred
Excellent administrative, organizational, and problem-solving skills
Ability to work effectively in a dynamic and inclusive environment
Strong attention to detail and quality mindset
Outstanding customer orientation and ability to handle confidential and/or sensitive information
Eagerness to learn, collaborate, and share knowledge within the Day Kimball Med/Surg Unit
Qualifications
High School diploma or equivalent is required
Experience in a clerical role or as a receptionist is preferred
