The Iowa Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) is seeking an energetic and detail-oriented person to join the team at the Cherokee Mental Health Institute (CMHI) in the role of Medical Transcriptionist. This is a full-time position with a Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m.-4:30 p.m. schedule and opportunity for advancement, growth, and development.  This is a 100% in-person position.

The Medical Transcriptionist will use the Dolbey Fusion transcription system. Important duties include proofreading completed documents and correcting grammar, spelling, punctuation, and typographical errors. The Medical Transcriptionist also performs filing, coding, and routing, participates in the testing and debugging of new word processing programs, and develops and maintains a working knowledge of the Dolbey Fusion transcription system and standard office equipment including fax machines, microfilm, and electronic typewriters.

The facility offers several services including individualized treatment plans. Support for patients with special education needs to continue their education is provided, and individuals are encouraged to collaborate with staff members in formulating their own plan. Medication, group counseling, and activities therapies might be included as well.

  • Net words per minute (one point deduction for each error)

  • Your name and date must be on the document submitted to this office.

  • And it must be signed off by a witness or another person not just from the typing website's electronic signature.
