The Department of Oncology is seeking a full time Medical Training Program Manager. The Manager will be dedicated to the educational mission of the Sidney Kimmel Comprehensive Cancer Center. The position manages the Hematology/Medical Oncology Fellowship Program and is administratively responsible for the activities of the SKCCC Cancer Research Career Enhancement Core (CRCEC).

Medical Oncology Administration:

  • Oversees the Medical Oncology Fellowship Training Program and House staff Rotation in Oncology. Manages application for Program Accreditation and ensures compliance with Council for General Medical Education (ACGME) guidelines.

  • Provides overall management of the Fellowship Program and supervises the Fellowship Program Coordinator. Develops the annual budget.

  • Responsible for pre-award sponsored project submissions.

  • Responsible for administrative oversight of the Medical Oncology organization unit. Analyze and implement staff structure, capabilities and development to meet the current and future needs of the division. Interacts with divisional financial manager as needed.

  • Develops attending schedules, house staff schedules, fellow supervision schedules.

  • Creates and monitors schedule to ensure effective training as well as compliance with hour mandates.

  • Ensures coverage for all services in Oncology to guarantee fellow/physician coverage at all times on all services

  • Coordinates structured year-long training program for fellows in first year of fellowship program.

  • Coordinates and oversees facilities and space issues for the Medical Oncology Division faculty staff and clinical fellows.

  • Supervises administrative assistant and the Fellowship Program Coordinator

  • Assists faculty with human resources issues including hiring/firing, discipline, time sheet approval and other matters.

  • Acts as liaison with Oncology clinical operations as it relates to fellow clinical practice.

  • Develops and maintains systems for tracking all SKCCC education and training program metrics for the CRCEC. Develops annual report on SKCCC training activities. Provides support to the AD, CRCEC for reporting all SKCCC training activities and metrics

Supervision of Others: This role supervises the Admin Coordinator and Fellow Coordinator and provides direction to other training and education coordinators on metrics to track and reporting requirements for CRCE Core.


Bachelors Degree and five years administrative management experience required. Additional experience may substitute for some education, and some additional education may substitue for some experience, to the extent permitted by the JHU Equivalency formula.


Advanced Degree helpful.

JHU Equivalency Formula: 30 undergraduate degree credits (semester hours) or 18 graduate degree credits may substitute for one year of experience. Additional related experience may substitute for required education on the same basis. For jobs where equivalency is permitted, up to two years of non-related college course work may be applied towards the total minimum education/experience required for the respective job.

During the Influenza ("the flu") season, as a condition of employment, The Johns Hopkins Institutions require all employees who provide ongoing services to patients or work in patient care or clinical care areas to have an annual influenza vaccination or possess an approved medical or religious exception. Failure to meet this requirement may result in termination of employment.

The pre-employment physical for positions in clinical areas, laboratories, working with research subjects, or involving community contact requires documentation of immune status against Rubella (German measles), Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Varicella (chickenpox), Hepatitis B and documentation of having received the Tdap (Tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis) vaccination. This may include documentation of having two (2) MMR vaccines; two (2) Varicella vaccines; or antibody status to these diseases from laboratory testing.

Blood tests for immunities to these diseases are ordinarily included in the pre-employment physical exam except for those employees who provide results of blood tests or immunization documentation from their own health care providers. Any vaccinations required for these diseases will be given at no cost in our Occupational Health office.
