We have an immediate opening for a Medical Technology Planner with Main Line Health. This position will travel to all Main Line Health hospitals as well as satellite offices.
The planner is Involved in consulting, programming, planning and coordinating the medical equipment requirements of hospital projects. Identifies medical equipment requirements working with healthcare professionals through user group meetings and planning work sessions. This position coordinates medical equipment specification information from vendors with design team members including architects, engineers and other consultants for the completion of construction documents. The role is responsible for preparing reports, schedules, location drawings and documents and budgets for the planned equipment.
Evaluate a project's needs and develop recommendations for equipment to be utilized in construction projects for medical facilities.
Provide equipment specifications, utility requirements information, and related considerations during the design process to insure the correct development of final construction documentation.
Communicate with vendors and provide purchasing information for the procurement of a project's medical equipment requirements.
Coordinating medical equipment specification information from vendors with design team members including architects, engineers and other consultants for the completion of construction documents.
Preparing reports, schedules, location drawings and budgets for the planned equipment.
Develop and update budgets for project medical equipment requirements.
Entry of Medical Equipment information into equipment management database .
Facilitate meetings with medical personnel to establish appropriate type, quantities, placement and use of medical equipment.
Review project drawings and coordinates equipment utility requirements for the development of architectural and engineering plans.
Communicate related information between the project team, hospital personnel, vendors, architects and contractors.
Identify, evaluate and quantify existing project equipment to determine potential reuse and/or retirement of equipment.
Develop project equipment lists for client and architect/engineer use, according to established standards and guidelines.
Maintain knowledge and understanding of emerging technologies and products.
Perform other duties as needed.
Project drawings room take offs.
Management of equipment specification data.
Assisting with the development of enhanced work methodologies.
Preparation of reports for meetings.
Assisting with the preparation of proposals and presentations.
Preparation of purchasing quotes and vendor bid documentation.
Understanding AutoCAD towards the development of equipment placement drawings.
Set daily and long-range priorities to meet established project deadlines.
Perform equipment acceptance testing
Receive and place in service capital equipment purchases related to projects
Primary Customers or Key Working Relationships:
MLH Senior Administration, Physicians, Nursing, Department Managers, Federal and State Accreditation Agencies, Vendors, Consultants and Architects
An Associate's degree in an appropriate engineering discipline or six years experience in a related discipline required
Licensures & Certifications:
BMET- (Biomedical Equipment Technician) certification is preferred.
Computer proficiency required, including spreadsheets and databases
Understanding of architectural and design schedules and the ability to coordinate equipment programming with building design and construction
Knowledge of the construction industry desired
Clinical background involving nursing, purchasing, biomedical engineering or other clinical specialties given strong consideration
Significant understanding of medical equipment and hospital environment
Strong communication skills and proven ability to interact with healthcare professionals and clients
Knowledge of current medical equipment technology
Computer proficiency required, including spreadsheets and databases
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and to manage multiple projects
CAD Drawing programs
Takes proper precautions as outlined in the MLH Safety Program;, Infection Control Program, , Cytotoxic Safety and Radiation Safety policies.
Will be exposed to controlled use of hazardous substances
