Medical Technologist Trainee

Position Summary The Medical Technologist Trainee works and trains under the direct supervision of a qualified director, supervisor or technologist. The Medical Technologist Trainee is responsible for assuring that a given test system is operated in accordance with the laboratory#s procedure manual and that the applicable quality control requirements are met. The incumbent actively supports and complies with all Shore Medical Center policies and procedures. Core Responsibilities # # #Performs tests in a timely manner. #Maintains turn-around time standards in stat testing-both in and out patient. # # #Has ability to coordinate simultaneous tests/procedures accurately. # # #Performs and documents quality control accurately; seeks supervisor guidance when appropriate # # #Consistently determines acceptability/integrity of specimens. # # #Responsible for informing supervisory personnel of all problems associated with the proper performance of test procedures. # # #Reports any actual or potential deviation from standard or accepted testing procedures, and cooperates fully with any investigation of same. # # #Maintains safe/clean work area. # # #Produces and reports accurate results. # # #Performs maintenance and troubleshooting effectively. # # #Performs other assigned duties. # # #Maintains appropriate record keeping. # # #Completes 6-month and annual competency in the month they are due. # # #Required to use (a) personal protective equipment, including Gloves, lab coat, mask and goggles (b)engineering controls and/or (c) work practice controls as directed by management.
