Providence is calling a Medical Technologist (0.9 FTE, Nights) to Providence Newberg Medical Center in Newberg, OR.

In this position, you will:

  • Be responsible for the accurate and timely reporting of high complexity laboratory test results with minimal supervision.

  • Be capable of performing pre-analytical, analytical and post-analytical duties including specimen evaluation, data analysis, and instrument maintenance and problem resolution.

  • Work with acute-care and outpatient caregivers, along with other Laboratory Services staff in performing their duties.

Required qualifications for this position include:

  • Certification or Registry (Clinical Laboratory Scientist/Medical Technologist)) from a government agency or nationally recognized professional organization (eg. American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP), National Credentialing Agency (NCA), etc. OR eligible for certification or registry

  • Must obtain certification within 6 months of hire (During this period new hire will be placed at the trainee rate)

  • In Compliance with the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC), criminal background check and fingerprinting may be required for this position, based on assigned duties. Involves only those positions at Providence Portland Medical Center (PPMC) operating the blood irradiator machine.

In this position, you will: * Perform ultrasound examinations according to physician orders, utilizing a variety of sophisticated ultrasound equipment, taking into account the individual patient special or age-related needs. * Perform all duties in a manner, which promotes team concept and reflects the Sisters of Providence mission and philosophy. Required qualifications for this position include: * Current American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) certification. New graduates must be board eligible and obtain permanent certification within 6 months of hire. * Current Oregon Board of Medical Imaging (OBMI) as a Medical Sonographer. New graduates must have OBMI temporary license upon hire and obtain permanent license within 6 months. * Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support (AHA-BLS) Healthcare Provider certification * Completion of pledge to Image Gently -or- Image Wisely within 1 month of hire * Expert knowledge of anatomy and physiology, imaging principles and practices, as well as the ability to obtain high-quality images * Adherence to appropriate professional credentialing practice standards * Computer skills and knowledge of keyboard functionality * Ability to read, write and speak English Preferred qualifications for this position include: * 2 years of clinical experience in diagnostic ultrasound About Providence in Oregon As the largest healthcare system and largest private employer in Oregon, Providence offers exceptional work environments and unparalleled career opportunities.
