Medical Technologist - Full-Time Day Shift - 7On/7 Off

Yoakum Community Hospital is seeking a dynamic individual to join our team on a 7on/7off schedule. As a Medical Technologist at our hospital, you will play a crucial role in performing medical laboratory tests, procedures, and analyses to provide essential data for diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of disease.

At Yoakum Community Hospital, you will have the opportunity to work with a diverse patient population, including infants, pediatrics, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics. Your responsibilities will include verifying patient identities, conducting routine venipunctures to obtain blood specimens, and performing quantitative and qualitative chemical analysis of body fluids such as blood, urine, and spinal fluid. Additionally, you will analyze test results, perform blood group and compatibility tests, and promptly notify the nursing unit of any panic value results.

As a Medical Technologist, you will also be responsible for maintaining and calibrating laboratory instruments, performing routine preventative maintenance, and documenting any repairs or maintenance needed. You will ensure supplies are well-stocked and maintain cleanliness in your work area. We value continuous learning and encourage our team members to engage in monthly continuing education articles to stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in the field.

In order to be successful in this position, you must hold a Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology from a four-year college or university. One to two years of related experience and/or training is preferred, however, individuals with an equivalent combination of education and experience are also encouraged to apply. Certification as a Medical Technologist and registration with the American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP) or equivalent is required. Your attention to detail, strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and ability to work both independently and as part of a team are essential for this role.
