Full-Time, 40 hours per week
Monday-Friday; Day Shift Hours with one week rotation on PM shift (1:30pm-10:00pm)
One weekend per month is required.
Routinely performs clinical analyses in chemistry, hematology, coagulation and urinalysis by utilizing a variety of methodologies and instrumentation according to laboratory policies and procedures and in accordance with all regulatory agency requirements in order to provide results of the highest level of quality to physicians and their patients. All patients' information must be kept confidential. Directives will be from Laboratory Manager and Laboratory Supervisor. All duties are to be performed in accordance with the mission and values of DuPage Medical Group. Employees are further expected to provide a high quality of care, service, and kindness toward all patients, staff, physicians, and guests.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Must be able to perform clinical diagnostic testing on patient samples working in a stat environment.
Must be able to read blood films.
Must be familiar with standards, practices and procedures for the clinical laboratory
Must understand quality control and be able to recognize when there is a deviance.
Have the ability to analyze test results for accuracy, acceptability and to act on critical values in a timely manner.
Must take part in Proficiency Testing including electronic reporting.
Must have experience with laboratory analyzers. Experience with Siemens Dimension EXL, Sysmex Hematology and Coagulation analyzers would be an advantage.
Must be able to troubleshoot and perform maintenance on analyzers.
Must be flexible- filling in at other locations maybe required.
Must be a team player.
Must take part in Proficiency Testing for Quality Assurance
Must take part in continual laboratory improvement initiatives.
Must take part in ensuring laboratory is inspection ready at all times
Must take part in annual competency and education.
Must attend meetings and seminars to keep abreast of the current developments in the field.
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Able to work effectively with Laboratory Services and the Laboratory Manager.
Adheres to Safety and Infection Control policies at all times in addition to laboratory dress code requirements.
EDUCATION and / or CERTIFICATION/LICENSURE:
Minimum Baccalaureate Degree. BS in Medical Technology. MT (ASCP) or equivalent certification preferred.
Minimum Degree for MLT AAS in Medical Technology (ASCP) or equivalent certification preferred.
Clinical laboratory experience as Medical Technologist /Supervisory experience preferred.
Computer and data management experience preferred.
