Position Summary:

Performs chemical, bacteriological, serological and microscopic procedures for Microbiology but must be able to rotate to other laboratory sections if needed. Maintains records of performance as defined in the Laboratory's general and procedure manuals.

Ensures that all policies and procedures are performed as defined in policy and procedure manuals approved by the Medical Director of the Laboratory. Performs all services as they may relate to patient care / treatment with consideration for the age/condition of the patient.

Assures that new staff is oriented to department and competencies documented. Assists lab management in any department specific changes, upgrades or projects in a timely manner.

Adheres to hospital policy for reporting patient safety issues, including errors. Consistently "Puts Patient Safety First" when performing job duties and providing care.

Education: Bachelor's Degree in Medical Technology from an accredited school of Clinical Laboratory Science required.

Experience: 3-7 years of Medical Technologist experience required

Certification: MT(ASCP) required

What would you do in this role? * Review patient history and supporting clinical data. Explain procedure to patient; provide patient support and comfort. * Select equipment and imaging modalities, position and prep, to facilitate optimum diagnostic studies. * Display broad knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy, pathology and/or physiological data to obtain optimal studies. Constantly evaluate accuracy and quality of scan results. * Select and record preliminary study results; make pertinent measurements and label. Direct to Radiologist for interpretation. * Maintain ultrasonography equipment. Recognize malfunctions and need for servicing. Ensure quality control procedures are maintained * Order and maintain supplies. Maintain orderliness of ultrasound laboratory. * Participate in continuing education as required by ARDMS and RVT * Perform on-call duties and/or work variable shifts as assigned to meet department needs. EXPERIENCE: Required: Must be registry eligible and pass the registry and becomes ARDMS certified within 18 months of hire. Preferred: Multiple years as a staff sonographer EDUCATION: Required: Responsible for continuing education credits as mandated by the ARRT or the SDMS for licensure. Graduate of AMA approved School of Radiologic Technology and trained in ultrasound technology. Graduate of AMA approved School of Ultrasound Technology LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION: (Required or Preferred) American Registry of Radiologic Technology or Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (required) American Society of Radiologic Technology or Society of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (preferred) Current BLS (required) We are a family 270,000 strong!
