The Medical Technologist in our BioAgilytix Boston facility is responsible for performing high complexity Clinical Diagnostic patient testing using technologies including RT PCR, ELISA, RIA, HPLC, cell culture, and ensuring specimen integrity by adhering to established procedures including quality control, quality assurance, and safety procedures as well as all relevant regulations.
Performing high complexity testing, especially DNA and RNA extraction with RT PCR, according to approved procedures and within established turnaround times.
Performing specimen handling and processing according to establish procedures.
Preparing reagents and documenting preparation and expiration requirements.
Accurately documenting all assay components for maximum sample and run traceability.
Entering, reviewing, approving, and releasing specimen results to clients.
Analyzing, reviewing, approving, and reporting test and quality control results according to established acceptance criteria and approved procedures.
Maintaining paper and electronic records of test results.
Troubleshooting test systems and taking appropriate remedial action when appropriate or as directed by Laboratory Management.
Performing and documenting routine equipment use, maintenance, calibration as well as routine, scheduled, and unscheduled preventive maintenance.
Operating all laboratory equipment and software according to approved procedures.
Reporting any deviations, nonconformances, safety incidents, or other events to Laboratory Management.
Adhering to all laboratory and company policies and procedures.
Adhering to all HIPAA requirements.
Proactively informing Customer Service of any issues which may cause late results.
Reviewing SOPs and other documentation as assigned.
Identifying problems which may adversely affect test performance or reporting of test results and taking appropriate action including notification of Laboratory Management.
Complying with quality assurance procedures.
Participating in laboratory continuing education programs.
Participating in proficiency testing and competency evaluation throughout the year.
Ordering and maintaining supplies required for assigned tests.
Performing and documenting lot-to-lot quality control of reagents prior to use.
Maintaining high quality records including but not limited to assay batch records, equipment maintenance forms, reagent preparation batch records, data analysis templates.
Participating in method development and equipment qualification activities as directed by Laboratory Management.
Maintaining strict cleanliness and adherence to safety protocols in designated and shared workspaces.
Training other technologists on tests and laboratory procedures.
Contributing to continuous improvement activities.
Supporting audits, inspections, and assisting in responding to observations, if applicable.
Maintaining knowledge of relevant regulations, standards, and guidelines.
Overseeing technical aspects of assigned assays and the work of other technologists on those assays.
Leading and participating in project based and improvement work.
Seeking efficiencies in testing and laboratory procedures.

Minimum Acceptable Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in medical technology or related life science
National certification as a Medical Technologist or Clinical Laboratory Scientist
Not less than five (5) years' experience testing moderate to high complexity assays
Strong knowledge and application of CLIA, CAP, and NYS DOH CLEP regulation, standards, and guidelines
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, remaining flexible, proactive, resourceful, and efficient with a high level of professionalism and confidentiality
Ability to manage, set, and organize multiple priorities and exercise sound independent judgment within areas of responsibility
Knowledge and application of HIPAA regulations
Ability to research and benchmark industry best practices for application inside the Company
Ability to use a high degree of tact, discretion, and diplomacy in dealing with sensitive situations; ability to deal effectively with diverse individuals at all organizational levels
Ability to collect and analyze data using statistical methods
Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form

Personal protective equipment is required and provided, such as protective eyewear, garments, and gloves
Routine use of standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and filing cabinets
Ability to work in an upright and/or stationary position for up to eight (8) hours per day
Repetitive hand movement of both hands with the ability to make fast, simple, repeated movements of the fingers, hands, and wrists to operate lab equipment
Frequent mobility needed
Frequent crouching, stooping, with frequent bending and twisting of upper body and neck
Light to moderate lifting and carrying (or otherwise moves) objects, including laboratory equipment, laboratory supplies, and laptop computer, with a maximum lift of 20 pounds
