Job Description:

Come bring your ASCP Clinical Lab Scientist (CLS) or Medical Technologist (MT) license and passion for blood banking to support the life-saving mission of the American Red Cross Blood Services. We are looking for a full time Medical Technologist to work in our reference lab performing specialized testing to serve our local hospital clients.

As a Medical Technologist at the Red Cross you will perform basic and advanced donor and patient tests, and interpret results to determine donor-recipient compatibility. Primary job responsibilities may include:

  • Resolving compatibility problems

  • Providing complex reference and consultation services to hospitals and transfusion services

  • Performing automated and manual test procedures on blood samples

Other Medical Technologist duties may include:

  • Managing receipt, coordination, shipment and transport of patient and donor blood samples and documenting supply and equipment problems

  • Managing reagent inventory (ordering, receiving, inspection and preparation)

  • Recognizing/resolving testing irregularities and assisting other Medical Technologists in problem resolution.

  • Consulting with staff at other medical facilities, to resolve complex serologic problems and providing special units to transfusion recipients

  • Performing maintenance, repair and validation of laboratory equipment and software

  • Maintaining accurate records

  • Performing manufacturing duties associated with special blood products, if applicable

  • Assuming lead responsibilities such as record review and training; assisting in concern management

Qualifications:

  • Technologist I: BS in Biological Science or Chemistry with ASCP (MT/MLS/CLS or BB) or ASCP MLT with 4 years of general lab experience.

  • Technologist II/III: BS in Biological Science or Chemistry with ASCP (MT/MLS/CLS or BB) and 3-5 years blood bank experience or ASCP MLT with 5-10 years blood bank experience.

  • Experience/Skills:
    Good written and verbal skills to communicate effectively with internal and external customers. Must be able to work on a team. Ability to use a wide variety of lab or medical equipment. Ability to use a personal computer and applicable software for sustained periods of time.

  • Must be available for daytime training during first 6-9 months on the job. After training, schedule is on Second Shift Monday-Friday with moderate weekend & holiday on-call rotation.

  • Physical requirements: Available to work overtime, other shifts, early mornings, evenings, holidays and weekends. Requires standing, stretching, stooping and bending for extended time periods. Lift, pull, push and move objects of up to 50 pounds. May work in walk-in refrigerator/freezers for periods of time. Work under pressure and within time standards. Required to wear protective clothing such as lab coats, gloves, face shields, etc. when there is exposure to blood and blood products and/or where work location requires.

Rotating weekend & holiday on-call rotation required.

VIEW JOBS 1/18/2020 12:00:00 AM 2020-04-17T00:00 Position description The Material Operator I will perform tasks associated with the production of molded Thermoplastic and Thermoset materials used in the Aerospace and Industrial markets. The Material Operator I will prepare raw materials for our internal molding departments and for external sales. This position will work under supervision to cut sheet molding compounds into various sizes then make them into preforms while maintaining quality and a safe work environment. The Material Operator I will mix resin using industrial mixing equipment and utilizing grinding equipment in making bulk molding compounds. 2nd Shift Schedule/Hours: Monday-Friday/2:30pm-11:00pm Essential functions include: * Experience preparing dry mixes and wet mixes making within the Material department. * Ability to operate industrial weighing and blending equipment. * Demonstrate ability to follow detailed work instructions. * Make quality parts that meet customer specifications and deadlines, with minimal scrap, in a fast paced work environment. * Perform visual inspections and identify anomalies or deficiencies and escalate to Lead. * Ability to identify and escalate semi-complex problems as they arise within the Material's department. * Contribute towards continuous improvement processes and projects in the areas of output, quality, cost and delivery. * Complete all paperwork correctly, legibly and honestly. * Maintains work space before, during, and after each scheduled shift in accordance with 5S principles. * Follow all safety requirements pertaining to Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and operation of equipment. * Conduct safety observations and Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) activities as required by our plant EHS program. Handle raw material in an environmentally responsible manner. * Use safe practices and comply with all company policies, procedures and health, safety and environmental regulations, as required. * Contribute to team effort by performing other supporting tasks as directed by the Production Supervisor or Cell Lead. * Follow Saint-Gobain principles of conduct and action, and exemplify the Saint-Gobain Attitudes. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS * High school diploma, GED or equivalent * 6+ months' experience working in a manufacturing environment * 6+ months' experience working with raw materials/chemicals is preferred * Basic computer and math skills * Ability to stand for long periods of time * Ability to work in above ambient temperatures * Maintain high attendance standards * Ability to strictly adhere to written and verbal instructions * Ability to lift up to 50lbs on a daily basis * This position is subject to export controls under the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).
