Job Title: Medical Staff Office Assistant
Department: Medical Staff Office
The Medical Staff Office Assistant works under the direction of the Medical Staff Services Manager to assure the efficient and timely processing of new applicants, reappointment's, and other Medical Staff Office/Library duties as assigned.
As assigned by Medical Staff Services Manager, assists in all credentialing procedures of Medical Staff and Allied Health Professional Staff (nurse anesthetists, nurse practitioners, midwives, physician assistants, locum tenens, etc).
Assists in followup/channeling of applications (processing, proctoring, granting temporary privileges, advancement, preparation of Credentials Committee agenda).
Assist in the coordination of all Medical Staff activities: gather pertinent data for department/ committee meetings and prepare associated agendas; plan/maintain master calendar and distribute to Medical and Hospital departments.
Provide clerical support for the CME program under the direction of the CME Medical Director.
Knowledgeable of Joint Commission standards as they pertain to medical staff credentialing.
Work with Medical Staff Services Manager to assure deadlines are met in accordance with Bylaws and Rules & Regulation, and other Medical Staff functions, coordinate and prepare correspondence.
Assure the accuracy of physician credentials files and peer review files, both paper and computer, and pertinent information needed (licenses, malpractice insurance policies, records of medical education credits).
Notify physicians when licenses and malpractice polices are soon to be expiring.
Answer inquiries regarding Medical Staff physicians (past/present) from back files
Participate in Orientation Program for new medical staff members.
Participate in the preparation of a yearly budget.
Knowledge of computer functions (word processing, spreadsheets, credentialing programs).

Demonstrates competency in utilizing resources to accommodate cultural needs of customers such as dietary, religious and language needs.

Must have three years in a professional support role
