JOB SUMMARY: Manages the Continuing Medical Education (CME) of St.

Joseph Medical Center. Responsible for the development and presentation of all CME medical staff conferences.# Maintains and assures compliance with the Texas Medical Association accreditation standards.


1.###### Consistently supports and communicates the Mission, Vision and Values of St.

Joseph Medical Center. 2.####### Follows the St.

Joseph Medical Center Guidelines related to the Health Insurance Portability and#Accountability Act (HIPAA), designed to prevent or detect unauthorized disclosure of Protected Health Information (PHI). 3.######## Promotes a culture of safety for patients and employees through proper identification, proper reporting, documentation and prevention of medical errors in a non-punitive environment.

#4.########Manages and coordinates the planning and implementation of Continuing Medical Education seminars for the medical staff. Using discretion reviews and evaluates CME applications to assure the essentials for the CME program are met.

Provides leadership to planning committee for each CME. Develops or provides assistance developing seminar brochures and advertising materials for each CME. Acts as liaison to sponsoring companies, program director and facility as it pertains to disclosures, proper displays of materials, and format of program.

Coordinates arrangements for each CME. Maintains accreditation data for each CME seminar. Awards CME credits to physician attendees.

Maintains financial expenditures for each CME. ######### ### 5.#######Manages and coordinates the Continuing Medical Education Committee meetings and functions. Schedule meetings as necessary, identifies appropriate participants. Participates in meetings providing expertise and advice on matters related to accreditation compliance.

Records and completes the minutes of the meeting within 5 days after the meeting. Facilitates follow-up tasks to appropriate departments/committees and employees within one week after the meeting.# ##### ########6.###### Prepares and distributes monthly CME.

7.###### Supportive of the compliance program set forth by SJMC and demonstrated by: Upholds the Code of Ethics and Corporate Compliance. Adheres to and helps to enforce all compliance policies relevant to his/her area. Assures timely compliance education as requested by the Compliance Officer and/or through corporate initiatives.

VIEW JOBS 4/17/2019 12:00:00 AM 2019-07-16T00:00 The Gastrointestinal Medical Oncology department is a team of highly specialized medical oncologists, scientists, physician assistants and research nurses who treat gastrointestinal malignancies, including cancers of the liver, bile duct, gallbladder, pancreas, large and small bowel, stomach, esophagus and rare tumors. Our mission is to deliver the highest quality patient care by providing the most advanced medical therapies and opportunities to participate in clinical trials, with the goal of improving survival and quality of life. Research scientists are working to find better therapies, as well as more accurate diagnosis and screening procedures to detect GI cancers in their earliest stages. Fellowship and residency programs are available to train future generations of gastrointestinal oncologists. The primary purpose of the Sr Research Scientist is to provide technical expertise and experience through coordinating, designing and carrying out translational research projects under the direction of Dr. Scott Kopetz. All projects will be conducted with IRB approval and in compliance with institutional regulatory requirements. The scope of this position impacts cancer research efforts in Gastrointestinal Medical Oncology and throughout the institution. KEY FUNCTIONS * Independently perform in vivo and in vitro studies for the validation and characterization of targets or therapeutic agents in the area of oncology and tumor immunology. * Independently perform in vivo model development, target inhibition, efficacy, mechanism of action, and PK/PD studies, and will evaluate the influence of dose, schedule, and therapeutic combinations in various cancer models. * Plan and perform independent research projects using experimental assays techniques such as DNA, RNA, protein extraction, western blotting, Q-Real Time and digital PCR, IHC, ELISA and FACS. * Manage multiple in vivo experiments simultaneously. Plan and perform research project using molecular biology techniques, such as cloning, transfection, site-directed mutagenesis assay, allelic expression assay, siRNA and flow cytometry techniques. * Coordinate collection of clinical samples with clinical research personnel, including implantation and maintenance of patient-derived xenografts (PDX) along with drug treatment studies and co-clinical trials. * Maintain accurate data storage and record filling systems to include all pertinent data and specifications on all experiments performed. Use computer programs for data analysis and presentation. Review and analyze scientific data and laboratory test results. * Maintain a safe laboratory environment, including updating regulatory documents for animal use, chemical and laboratory safety. * Train and supervise new employees and visitors on laboratory safety and basic laboratory skills. * Submit purchase order requisitions and assist with inventory issues. * Provide analyzes of program operation and procedures to principal investigator when necessary. * Write and prepare experiment reports, preliminary data for grants, and manuscripts. * Supervise and assist with training of clinical and basic science fellows and graduate students. EDUCATION Required: PhD in one of the natural sciences or related field or Medical degree. Preferred: PhD in Biological Science. EXPERIENCE Required: Five years of experience in experimental or scientific work. Preferred: Eight years of relevant postdoctoral research laboratory experience. At least three years of relevant experience in experimental oncology research. At least three years of experience in experimental therapeutics research (using PDX models).
