The Manager provides overall leadership, direction and management of activities and resources of the Medical Staff Services in regard to planning, organizing, staffing, directing, monitoring, controlling and coordinating the work efforts of the department.
The Medical Staff Services Department of Sutter Medical Center, Sacramento (SMCS) and Sutter Center for Psychiatry (SCP) provides support to the medical staff organization to meet the goals and objectives of the medical staff and hospital and to meet requirements of regulatory agencies. This includes development and enforcement of Medical Staff Bylaws, Rules and Regulations, policies and procedures; development and implementation of Credentialing procedures for medical staff and advanced practice clinicians; support to medical staff department committee structure, direction, development and planning of the Continuing Medical Education Programs. This position develops, directs and integrates programs and relationships which promote and enhance the visibility of Sutter Medical Center, its services and Medical Staff expertise through continuing medical education programs.
AA degree in Medical Staff Sciences or Certified Professional Medical Services Management (CPMSM) or Certified Provider Credentialing Specialist (CPCS) certificate is preferred; may be enrolled comparable college course of study.
Applicant may substitute education for significant related work experience.
Incumbent must have experience with medical staff organization support, planning and supporting physician CME programs, and with credentialing.
The incumbent must be well versed in the management of the areas supervised.
Knowledge of hospital and medical staff organization and structure, related medical procedures, medical terminology to include diagnostic and operative procedures, medico-legal issues and laws, and pertinent regulatory requirements and standards (Title 22, CMS, TJC, NCQA, and CMA IMQ for CME accreditation requirements) is required.
Knowledge of credentialing requirements of both acute and non-acute entities is required.

Ability to work with highly confidential information is required.

Must possess computer skills and knowledge required to support a credentialing information system.
This position requires sitting for long periods of time.
Must be available for both early morning and evening meetings.
Must have transportation to off-site locations.
