As a medical specialist, you are responsible for completing in-depth medical reviews of Accident Benefits files to determine the necessity of Insurer Examinations. As part of the review, you provide recommendations to support the most optimal health outcomes for our clients. You also provide your recommendations on the gathering, utilization and interpretation of complex medical information.

Main Responsibilities

  • Use medical expertise and clinical experience, completes in-depth medical reviews of files to determine if insurer examination is necessary.

  • Determine most appropriate assessor to examine the client if insurer Examination is necessary.

  • Change clients injury category if medical review supports.

  • Analyze holistic evaluation of treatment recommendations that embraces an evidence-based approaches.

  • Consider context of the Statutory Accident Benefits Schedule, Desjardins claims philosophies and best practices.

  • Provide recommendations on how to proceed with the medical manangement of files.

  • Communicate decisions to Claims Advisor.

  • Bachelor's degree in psychology

  • Master's degree in a related field (an asset)

  • Minimum of four (4) years clinical experience in hospital or relevant clinic setting
