POSITION SUMMARY: 40 hours, Monday to Friday with#Orthopedic Surgery at River#s Edge in Manchester.# The Medical Scribe works to facilitate patient flow and ensure an accurate and complete medical record for each patient by accompanying the attending physician during the medical history-taking and exam. Provides clinical support to the provider(s). KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Creates and maintains the patient#s medical record under the direct supervision of the attending physician. Enters medical orders and prescriptions for the provider#s sign off and tracks the orders. Attends the patient encounter with the attending physician and records details of the patient encounter including chief complaint, history of present illness, disease risk factors, medications and allergies and other items as stated by the attending physician. Records the details of the physical exam as detailed by the attending physician, including pertinent positives and negatives, noted abnormalities and patient general condition. Submits orders for labs, radiology, prescriptions, etc. as directed by the attending physician. Assists in medical correspondence including, but not limited to consult letters, letters of patient necessity and clinical phone encounters as directed by the attending physician. Assists in the abstraction of clinical information into the EMR from outside sources as directed by the attending physician. Tracks orders and notify physicians of results. REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE # SKILLS Working knowledge of medical terminology and accepted abbreviations. Administrative knowledge, including medical records management, collections and insurance processing. Recognition of physical exam process and the ability to record exam details. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Ability to coordinate and cooperate with multiple members of the health care team. Knowledge of HIPPA policies. Strong English grammar. Proficient typist. Understanding and training in EMR technologies with excellent computer and keyboarding skills. Understanding of information workflow with attention to detail, keen listening skills and strong multi-tasking skills. Professional demeanor and recognition of privacy considerations for patients and families. EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/LICENSURE Education: High school diploma or equivalent required. Knowledge of medical terminology and accepted abbreviations required. Pre-health career track preferred. Experience: At least one (1) year previous medical scribe experience. Software/Hardware: MS Office required. Familiarity with an Electronic Medical Record required. Familiarity with EPIC preferred. OTHER REQUIREMENTS

Maintenance of scientific expertise: a. Complete core training curriculum and basic MSL Certification; b. Full participation in therapeutic area updates and/or training initiatives e.g. journal clubs; c. Medical conference attendance and reviews; d. Routine self-paced reading of current publications; e. Professional licensure with CEU documentation where applicable; f. Completes recertification and advanced certification were applicable; g. Leads journal reviews and team discussions; h. Regularly coordinates or leads internal training initiatives; i. Depth of knowledge within the therapeutic area exceeds that of peers and/or Medical Affairs experience in multiple therapeutic areas; j. Shares expertise and project leadership across therapeutic areas; 2. Opinion leader engagement: a. Criteria based selection and validation to identify and confirm opinion leader (OL) status; b. Routine contacts with OLs; c. Research site identification and investigator sponsored studies (ISS) support; d. Speaker training and evaluation; e.
