Job Specification

Minimum Education Required: High School Diploma. Emphasis in customer service, knowledge of healthcare setting, or equivalent of education and job related experience.

Minimum Experience Required: Basic working knowledge of hospital operations and outpatient facility operations

Licensure/Certification Required: N/A

Skills required (if applicable): Must possess good mental and health, hearing and visual acuity to carry out Screener responsibilities. Must be able to multi-task, problem solve, and maintain composure when dealing with stressful situations and utilizes appropriate resources.

Must possess interpersonal and communication skills at all times to effectively and professionally represent IRMC. Ability to adapt and implement rapid changes to protocols. Flexibility with the schedule and hours worked.

Job Summary

The Screener is responsible for knowledge of screening protocols of hospital staff, patients and guests due to COVID-19. Creates the first impression of the Hospitals services to patients, family members, and other external customers.

The Screener must be able to articulate information/screening questions in a manner that employee patients, and visitors can understand while maintaining the highest level of customer service. The screener follows Hospital guidelines in the handling of medical and security emergencies. Works closely with guest services to return X-rays, halter monitors, oximeters, lifelines, etc. to issuing departments when they are dropped off at the front entrance. Assists patients as needed.

Must complete competency to scrub/circulate for emergency CS. Coordinates the provision of direct patient care according to Nursing Care Standards. The Registered/Graduate Nurse assesses, plans, implements, evaluates, and records patient care in accordance with the medical and nursing plans of care. Participates in teaching and rehabilitation of the patient. Coordinates discharge planning in conjunction with other members of the health team. Directs and assists with the Licensed Practical Nurse, Nursing Assistant, and Nursing Student in rendering care to patients, works collaboratively with all members of the patient care team and provides leadership so that standards of professional nursing practice are maintained in the clinical setting. Demonstrates ability to function as a charge nurse as assigned. Demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the span of life. He/she must be able to identify each patients age-specific needs and provide appropriate care for the neonate, pediatric, adolescent, or adult patient.
