Position Overview

Develops and maintains professional relationships with internal and external customers to provide comprehensive medical and scientific support to Allergan initiatives in assigned therapeutic areas.

Facilitates information, education, and research activities for physicians and ancillary healthcare professionals regarding current and future therapies in development or commercialized by Allergan. Works closely with other Allergan personnel to ensure information, education, and research needs of healthcare professionals are met and to ensure scientific and technical training needs of commercial organizations are identified and met

Main Areas of Responsibilities

  • Identify, develop and maintain professional relationships with thought leaders, academic centers and researchers in assigned areas of therapeutic interest to ensure access to current medical and scientific information on Allergan products.

  • Support research initiatives as requested by Allergan R&D, Clinical Operations, Medical Affairs Departments, and physician initiated projects.

  • Serve as internal medical and scientific resource to assigned Allergan therapeutic areas with respect to planning for and developing communications and other materials on product information Consistent with regulatory guidelines, ensure medical accuracy and balance of information to be disseminated.

  • Present data on Allergan products to healthcare professionals including physicians, academic institutions, researchers, and other health care professionals.

  • Provide approved information to clients to ensure access to current medical and scientific information necessary.

  • The MSL may serve as the scientific advisor to Allergan in the evaluation of new products and technologies under consideration for portfolio enhancement/expansion.

  • Support Round Table and Advisory Board sessions to ensure accuracy of and clinician access to up-to-date scientific and clinical data.

  • Conducts on-going training to medical affairs, field sales and other internal personnel as directed.

  • Ensures up to date knowledge of product use and competitor data.

  • Serves as local medical and scientific resource to Allergan Product planning for communication of product information.

  • Provide support for payer-facing activities to public and commercial managed markets. These activities may include delivering clinical and pharmacy presentations, presentation development and review with Payer Team colleagues, providing scientific support for medical policy initiatives, training, and product differentiation


  • Accountable for maintaining annual expenses within assigned budget parameters.

  • Responsible for accurate and timely documentation of above activities.

Preferred Skills/Qualification

  • Requires minimum 3+ year total specific industry experience (pharma, device, etc.) and minimum
  • 4 years post professional degree practice or relevant transferable experience (clinical practice, academic research, regulatory/scientific)
  • Neurology/Urology/Botulinum Toxin experience preferred but not required


  • M.D., Pharm.D, Ph.D, or other recognized doctorate level education with supporting applicable health science background.

The Independent Sales Representative is accountable to perform all sales, service, marketing and merchandising activities in his/her assigned sales territory. This is a full time position servicing supermarkets in the Armonk, NY area. EEO/VETERANS/DISABLED ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES: * Provide high quality service to the assigned sales territory as required to meet specific independent store needs and expectations. This includes writing orders, routine display/shelf presentation, and timely processing of returns and damaged product for credit. * Identify, present, and sell to store management, opportunities to increase store sales through substitution of slow-moving items with alternative products. * Effectively control all credits and process them in a timely manner, write orders which maintain necessary inventory levels with a minimum of out of stocks and where appropriate, merchandise/stock our products in a neat and organized fashion that meets customer and company expectations. * Merchandise and stock our products in a neat and organized fashion that meets customer and company expectations. * Perform minor product resets and display installations to meet store needs and expectations. * Identify, present, and sell to store management, opportunities to increase store sales through substitution of slow-moving items with alternative products. * Identify, recommend, and perform product demonstrations as appropriate. * Present all marketing programs, and promotional period books to store management, and be adept at designing and building creative off shelf displays. * Identify stores in the sales territory that are not current customers, research needs, develop a plan, present proposal to store management and follow up as needed. * Monitor competitive activities in the sales territory, communicate activity to supervisory personnel and recommend paths forward to increase company profitability, and follow up on these opportunities. * Operate a profitable sales territory by managing credits, open invoices, refused orders, etc. * Follow established policies and procedures to accomplish the above accountabilities. * Other miscellaneous duties as assigned. Required Skills QUALIFICATIONS: Education/Certification: * High school graduate or equivalent related experience * Valid driver's license necessary * Auto insurance levels that meet UNFI requirements Experience: * Prior customer service experience in a retail setting * Minimum one year of related selling experience * System Implementation Preferred Knowledge: * Proficiency in Microsoft office (excel proficiency is a must) Skills/Abilities: * Excellent customer service skills * Good communication abilities * Organization skills and attention to detail * Basic math abilities * Ability to work independently * Ability to get in and out of car multiple times per day and able to spend up to 30% of the day in the car traveling to and from accounts safely in city, rural and expressway conditions * Ability to set up displays, fixtures, shelving and products * Able to tolerate exposure to store and warehouse conditions including wide variances in temperature, dust and dirt * Ability to lift up to 40 lbs United Natural Foods, Inc.
