Position Description

Employees in this classification provide support in an assigned research laboratory performing laboratory experiments and procedures. Assists with the development of new procedures and techniques to be utilized within the laboratory.

Performs other functional duties such as maintenance of the laboratory and laboratory equipment and supplies. Work is performed under usual laboratory conditions. Some hazards maybe present due to use of ratioctive, cacinogenic or other potientially harmful substances. Assists in training and direction of subordinate personnel.

Preferred Qualifications

Coursework in biology, molecular biology or biochemistry.

A bachelor's degree in biology, molecular biology or biochemistry; laboratory experience is strongly preferred.

Required Qualifications

High School Diploma. Also, coursework equivalent to two years of college in one of the sciences, or equivalent combination (2 years) of job-related experience and college education.

Experience may be substituted for college education on year-for-year basis. EXPERIENCE: Combination of training and experience equvaient to two years or two years of college coursework in one of the sciences.

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE Include minimum education, technical training, and/or experience preferred to perform the job. * High School Diploma or GED required * 0 – 1 year in a Customer Service role. * 0 – 1 year administrative experience in medical facility, health insurance, or related area preferred * Some college coursework is preferred PHYSICAL DEMANDS The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
