SUMMARY: The primary function of the Medical Records Specialist is to provide clerical support for the Medical Records function.
1.Prepares patient assessment packets, including admission, recertification and post hospital.
2.Processes signed and unsigned Orders and 485s.
3.Follows up on the Order Tracking Report weekly and according to the Order Procedure. Reprocesses unsigned orders at end of episode as task appears on action screen.
4.Date stamps all received documents, except SOC paperwork and paper visit notes, to be scanned into the client chart. Scanning should be completed within 24 hours of stamp date.
5.Faxes the discharge / transfer summary / episode detail summary and Case Conference / 60 Day Summary to the physician as task appears on action screen.
6.Copies documentation and assists with ADR preparation.
7.Updates HCHB and computer programs as appropriate.
8.During Stage 4, supports the Billing Specialist by verifying paper visit notes.
9.Adheres to and participates in the Branchs mandatory HIPAA / Privacy Program and Employee Compliance Program.
10. Reads and adheres to all Branch policies and procedures and follows Employee Handbook guidelines.
11. Completes all other duties as assigned.
1.Must have at least a high school diploma or equivalent. Some college preferred.
2.Six months medical records experience in a clinic, hospital, or home health setting is preferred.
3.Must be organized and able to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
4.Must have exceptional customer service skills and be able to communicate well with referral sources, patients, family members, and branch employees.
5.Must have/maintain a valid drivers license and auto liability insurance.
6.Must be flexible with work schedule.
