The Medical Receptionist is responsible for basic clerical tasks such as answering phones, greeting patients and visitors and scheduling appointments in a professional and timely manner. The Medical Receptionist may be responsible for both administrative and clinical duties.
Welcomes and greets all patients and visitors, whether in person or over the phone and acts as a liaison between patient and provider.
Maintains a polite, consistent phone manner using pleasant telephone etiquette.
Keeps the reception area clean, organized and ready at the start of each working day.
Registers new patients and updates existing patient demographics by collecting patient information including personal and financial information during the check in process.
Facilitates patient flow by notifying the Medical Assistants of patient arrival, being aware of delays, and clearly communicating status with patients and clinical staff.
Keeps medical office supplies adequately stocked by anticipating inventory needs, placing orders, and monitoring office equipment.
Protects patient confidentiality by making sure protected health information is secured, not visible to other patients and logging off the computer before leaving it unattended.
Obtains pre-certification for any required procedures or medications.
Maintains clear and timely written and verbal communications between patient and provider via phone or Taskman.
Relays information clearly to patient on preparation for appointments, lab tests, procedures and referrals.
Performs all other clerical duties as assigned by Vanguard Medical Group.
